Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

Jo Lutz I got a 10k sustain and when tighten the drag over 12lbs, the drag jerks a lot. But with my other 18k Stella, smooth drag. I trust this reel with 100lb plus fish easily.

no!, it one of the best (and biggest 30k is bad design!)...too daiwa saltiga light models with 20-40lb braid?go to 100-200$ as my stradic fa5000 or new saragosa sw/spheros....guys say that BG is good But to popping(fast retrieve) of coast and 200lb giant tuna?only solution go to 1100$ saltiga8000/stella18k or 800$ makaira20k/torque9500/catalina7000...exam, bg8000 of coast is complicated to catch giant tuna or xxl GT of boat but near the coral!, only 12kg real drag. even if to jigging with spinfisher8500 can caught 250lb tuna! (DEPENDED on several FACTORS)
