It's very important to learn where the best microclimates are in one's yard if one is interested in growing subtropical and tropical trees. Been there, doing it still!

Excellent video. Audrey, how often are you applying the silica blast (winter and summer)? And how do you deal with the high pH? I read that silica blast raises the pH level. In AZ, both our soil and water are high pH so it's a constant battle to keep it lowered. Thanks.
@audreyasbey37454 жыл бұрын
I apply every even month. I don’t have issues with high ph. But if I did I’d be listening to Mr Shamus.

Great Job Audrey, I covered my trees like that for many years until they grew over 12’ tall. I should have kept them smaller. Keep them small!!!! The sugarloaf you gave me is still the same size!!! I think I need to get it some of that miracle powder 😁

Audrey, when using the Brassinolide are you drenching the leaves or the root base of the mango tree as if you were watering?
@audreyasbey37454 жыл бұрын
Both. I pour at base during deep watering monthly and foliar spray every 2 wks during winter

Okay last question, you mentioned low flow heater, is that what i look for in terms of the proper name when i get ready to purchase?
@audreyasbey37454 жыл бұрын
The name was Dr. Heater DR218-1500W Greenhouse Garage Workshop Infrared Heater from Walmart or Amazon. Two sizes. But it has worked to keep shelter above 40 during cold snap below 30.

Your information is SO helpful-thanks so much for sharing! We are expecting 15F with snow/rain overnight 1 day this week, followed by 3 or 4 nights at or below freezing and I am panicking! Should I cold protect with what I have (no budget for heaters, etc.), which is plastic and sheets/blankets, or should I try to dig them up and bring them in? All my trees are 1-2 years in ground and all were pushing new growth and flowers-mangos, lychee, longan, tamarind, black sapote, etc.
@TrulyTropical3 жыл бұрын
Wow... hope everything survives! At the very least, try to protect the trunks of all your trees by wrapping them with blankets or some other form of insulation. Good Luck!

Do you have to be zoned ag to qualify for the grant?
@audreyasbey37454 жыл бұрын
Available state wide but usually in the county due to code restrictions. Visit your local USDA office and ask about NRCS grant
