👍how do you like the sc480 what is the response time for the capacitance check.? Some meters are slow pokes.
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
This meter is definitely a top contender. Capacitor check is very fast and accurate. Only takes 1 second to give a reading. It's also extremely reliable for start capacitors in the higher uf ranges. (This meter scores very high in that category.) The continuity beep is the only setting that is slightly slower than some other meters I've used. I'm not sure why that is considering I have some other Fieldpiece meters that are 10 years old & they have a very fast continuity beep. The sc480 can only keep up with about one test lead "tap" per 1/2 second. Which is odd because of all the other settings being so fast. But that's definitely not a deal-breaker for this meter. I LOVE THE 5-MINUTE BACKLIGHT!!! 💡💡💡 Hope that helps. Thanks for watching 👍

...that 5min backlight is a nice bonus! Wanting to upgrade from the SC440 to the 480 - mostly for the wireless feature for checking blower amps. The dual-display is EXACTLY the same reason I went from an SC260 to the 440, for heat kits - used to work on 95% residential Air Handlers.
@sknight03913 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm still Loving it. That 5 minute backlight makes all the difference in the world. Just goes to show you that fieldpiece does listen to what the technicians out in the field have to say and then they make changes to their instruments. And then you'll also really like having the addition of the min/max/hold button. That's the only thing that they left off of the sc440.. thanks for watching buddy, and for the feedback 😎👍

With the wireless feature and the field piece app you will be able to view the amp draw in the form of a bar graph. So in real time you will be able to see the line going up and down on a graph. That's pretty cool. And now the sc480 has been integrated into measure quick as well.
@kangaroogod4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review Shannon. I hope you fixed the flex line that appears to be penetrating the cabinet. Also as for hertz, I wonder if you could wrap the wire around the clamp several times to get a reading like the good ol days if the amp draw is low. (I feel older every day)

Kanga you're still rollin with the heat anticipator in your t-stat. I bet you're still putting leaded gas in your car. I'm still hoping the video store will open back up so I can get that last stamp punched on my card and get a free rental. I've been wanting to see that ET movie everybody's been talking about. 😏😏😏

I’ve been seriously considering buying this meter and with the 2 videos you have shown I think I’m sold! My Sc77 finally quit on me so I’ve been running my back up (UEI dl479) and it’s a decent meter but it just doesn’t have a few of the features that I want in a meter. It’s time to place an order with TruTech!
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a plan. Don't forget to use Zack's discount code "ShopTalk" at TruTech Tools to save some bucks. I'll be doing another video on "Watts" in a few days 👍
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
And since you're coming off of the SC 77 you will also notice that this meter doesn't beep when you turn it on or when you're changing settings on the dial. Don't know why Fieldpiece happened to leave that off of the 480 & 680, but I always like to hear my meter beep when it turns on. I guess it's just a comfort thing 😁 #beepbeep
@baitcasterdisaster89814 жыл бұрын
Yeah the beep when it turns on is a good feature for piece of mind but this meter not having it isn’t a deal breaker for me. I can’t wait to get my hands on this meter and put it to good use in the field.

Thanks for sharing. So you do not see the need for the swivel clamp?
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
I also have the sc56, which is the very first swivel clamp that Fieldpiece made. I never found myself using that feature very often. I prefer the fixed-head on the SC480. But everybody's different. I know a lot of guys love that feature. I think it comes down to the size difference between the 2 meters (sc480 vs sc680) more than anything else. The 680 is a very large meter. But this 480 is a very nice size meter. Thanks for watching Steven 😎👍

👍is this going to be your everyday carry ? Its been awhile since I had a Fieldpiece meter.
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
Definitely EDC for awhile. Have to put it thru it's paces. It's definitely a top contender. All the settings are fast & accurate except for continuity is alittle slow. Which is some what unusual because Fieldpiece has always had a very "quick" continuity beeper. It's definitely NOT a deal breaker for this meter, but it's something noteworthy to mention. This meter has to many other great things going for it to nit-pick over 1 beep per 1/2 second. WATTS video coming soon. 😁👌

Does the sc480 have a magnetic strap? Thanks again.
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed it does. No test lead storage on the back, but the magnet is a GO 👌 And I'm sure you noticed the Jaw Light in the clamp to light up the work area. It is quit bright & very handy too. Thanks for watching 👍

@@sknight0391 Sweet thanks again. I really don't care about the lead storage that usually breaks in a few weeks.

@@mikelewis4260 I feel the same way. Also puts too much stress on the test leads causing them to develop shorts prematurely.

Is there a microamp clamp meter I don't want to have to put my meter in series. I just want to clamp and get microamps. ???
@sknight0391 Жыл бұрын
No. It's too small of a reading to get through a clamp. The only way to do it is through the test leads. Thanks for watching 😎👍

What is The normal microamp range for flame sensor
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
It varies, but it's usually going to be at least 1.8 or higher. Anyting under 1.8 and the furnace probably isn't going to run properly.

How you like it? The one thing that was most disappointing about that meter was the fact that they left off the Max/Min function.
