No effects. No pitch correction. No multitracking. They’re not even in a studio. A live performance in an empty gym. Pure talent.

My sweet Irish aunt passed away on 10-1-2021. She had Alzheimer’s and when I played Irish music she always got a smile on her face and her whole personality changed. I want to thank you, I was playing this song for her and holding her hand when she went to be with the rest of her family and I know she was at peace.🍀

When I was young, I was taken to Wembley to see England beat Eire. Before the game, I was unsure of my nationality, Irish Dad, born in London. When Keegan scored the second goal, I knew I was Irish. The Irish were singing this song. As my name is Michael, it just hit the right place, my heart.

By a lonely prison wall I heard a young girl calling "Michael, they are taking you away For you stole Trevelyan's corn So the young might see the morn Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay" Low lie the fields of Athenry Where once we watched the small free birds fly Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry By a lonely prison wall I heard a young man calling "Nothing matters, Mary, when you're free Against the famine and the crown I rebelled, they ran me down Now you must raise our child with dignity" Low lie the fields of Athenry Where once we watched the small free birds fly Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry By a lonely harbour wall She watched the last star falling As that prison ship sailed out against the sky For she lived in hope and pray For her love in Botany Bay It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry Low lie the fields of Athenry Where once we watched the small free birds fly Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing It's so lonely 'round the fields of Athenry

My better half greeted me with this this morning. I had come downstairs for breakfast, he said listen to this, what do you think. Given some of the things I have been expected to listen to....., My grumbling was stunned into silence as I listened. The most glorious, beautiful rendition of this song I have ever heard. What a talented pair. It has always made me feel very sad for the people who have been subjected to injustice. My local paper has regular what happened back then sort of feature, to read of deportation for something as simple as stealing an apple or a pair of clogs, these things happened to people under the thumb wherever they lived and still do in this world. To those who would want to erase history at this crazy time, I would say beware, you would only be in danger of repeating the the same things in the future. Homo sapiens is far from a perfect animal. Their are the leaders and the led. The users and the misused. It has always been so. Some learn some don't
