BASC reaches 50k students when the RSPB have over 250 in their edu team and have had big numbers for ages. They probably reach 500K students every month across K12, FE & HE and have been doing so for almost 20 years. Having setup, run & sold a successful educational marketing business I know a bit about this but would BASC listen (no) the response from a very senior BASC person (who is still there)I in 2002 (when I held a senior position in Whitehall at what was the DfES) was "its all right dear boy we have the ear of government, shooting will never be restricted and we have an ex headmaster doing some education for us". If you believe 50k is a success you probably think Kier Starmer is the new Churchill

Just be aware that in Ireland you can only have up to .30 cal for hunting nothing larger. .308, .30 06, etc, obviously. .243, .270, is OK also. Semi auto centerfire rifles are not allowed, If your coming from abroad and bringing your own rifle get your paper work in early. The Irish authorities are not particularly firearm friendly. Here in Ireland there has being an explosion in the number of raptors we have, this combined with intensive farming, removal of hedgerows and scrubland, has decreased d populations of wild birds hugely

Malawi is a notoriusly corrupt country with highly active and capable poachers that travel long distances for ivory and rhino horn. Their buyers are tribal leaders, corrupt government officials and chinese-backed businessmen who operate known criminal / smuggling networks. These people have contacts and enablers in the veterinary, police and farming communities. Many of the rhino poachers caught in SA are from Malawi, enabled and informed by locals. The vast majority of financial backing for this activity comes directly from China.

We really need more children from all sorts of communities to learn about the countryside and hopefully (like I did) develop a love for not just the landscape but respect the people who manage it. I have no truck with anyone committing a wildlife crime, but that ridiculous graph from the RSPB showing raptor-persecutions should be updated to show a comparison of something "like numbers of people injured by a musical instrument". Even going back a century would show this to be tiny, minority.
