The firewall spark plugs in my 86 Fiero were never changed! It was hardest for me because I had to deal with very rusty and rounded spark plugs. I finally did it, but it was probably the hardest spark plug change I have ever done. Glad to say that now it has changed, but the distributor motor is absolutely mangled. Ill have to change that in 4 days when its shipped.

I remember the Fieros quite well. They were never intended to be a sports car but a compact commuter car. GM took the front engine/suspension from a Citation reversed it and put it in the back. Then took the suspension from a Chevette for the front. The car was supposed to be easy to repair if it got in an accident because they designed the chassis to be assembled in a big jig and welded together.. and the body panels were plastic. Great idea,but it turned out to be a bitch to repair because the chassis would get bent or twisted and the plastic body panels wouldn’t fit properly. Plus the 4 cylinder cars had a bad habit of catching fire. The insurance companies ended up not liking the Fiero and they ran the cost of insurance so high people quit buying them. This V-6 Fastback was in the last year they made them. They did a pretty good job of making a sports car out of it but it was too late and GM ended up cancelling it. Too bad as the fastback was great looking and a good performer.

I found firewall side spark plug replacement on the V-6 Fiero very easy using my method discovered while working @ Jay Pontiac of Bedford Ohio circa 1986. From the interior remove the 4 screws fastening the firewall console box. Unclip and push the main engine harness through the firewall (no need to separate the connection) You are now looking at the 3 spark plugs through a 4.5 X 4.5 inch hole in the firewall.
