Impressed (and envious)by the amount of machinery you have. I have home built one Duratec and several Pinto engines, I need to build another Duratec so thanks for the build video.

Like how KZbin's subtitles describe the noise of the injector test as either 'music' or 'applause' depending on the speed they're running at! 🙂 Great video again.

I am really enjoying the transformation from the old shop to the new shop a special the engine build area. The make up artists are doing a great job on you ( Hollywood) BUT the audio for a old colonial like me is very echoy in the engine assembly room. Keep up the good work Kit from down under

Love watching these James. I always used to use a big wedge out of my missus's Vaseline pot to prime the oil pump 😁. I did clean my hands first😂. I love that snap on torque wrench mate that wasn't cheap was it. BTW I spy a Lotus twink on the bench!

22:00 i remember you need to use criss cross pattern for the crankshaft . Why going in series? Great job in general with a lot of detailing

No reason for going in series, I torqued it like that when I measured the main line, I also didn't realise there was a sequence until a subscriber sent me an original manual for it..

Can you do a Zetec or ST170 build. The brown block behind you when your building the duratec looks like a Zetec/ST170 block. The engine behind you in the engine room too looks like a Zetec too.

22:40 just a notice. That bolts should be tightened as the head bolts. From the center, going outwards circly.

This video is a fantastic resource - thanks for taking the time to share it. I have a question regarding balancing. It looks you installed a fresh set of the factory cast pistons and rods. Did you also have to balance those? I ask because I've heard it's a pain to separate the factory rods from the pistons, as the wrist pin is pressed in.

@@graceenginedevelopments One more question: do you use ARP rod bolts with the factory cast rods? Some have suggested that they distort the rods too much (relative to Ford bolts). What has your experience been? Thank you!

Very educational video for me personally, I have a renewed appreciation for how big of a job doing this is! Engine looks mint, do you know how much power the customer was hoping to make out of it? If you don't mind me asking- how many hours did this take and what was the build cost? Great channel keep up the good work 👍

Thank you, I'm not sure on power I need to contact the customer and ask how he's getting on with it. I'm not sure on the hours but I'm filming 2 engines at the moment and logging hours.. price for that was about 4k

Question about piston ring installation: do you lubricate the rings and the ring lands before installing them on the pistons? How about the piston skirts, or is the only lubrication the lube you apply to the tops of the bores? Thank you!

Hi. I use as little as possible, I use totalseal assembly lubricant around the top of the bore just to help the skirt and rings install

When you use the crank balancer I wish you would use the 2 safety arms,,,, just in case something goes pear shaped,,,, 🙏🙏

The belt pulls it down so it won't go far.. I should use them though.. I'll try and remember

Fantasic vid there was engrossed from start to finish 👍 one question though i was told its not possible to skim an Duratech HE/Mazda L head as theres not enough meat on them before they go out of tolerance? In fact its what sent my Mondy to thr scrapper and i couldn't find anyone willing to resurface the head in my area🤷😡

I've got a volvo s40 with duratec engine and the same problem. Around 117k . Rings gone. Getting all the parts before start stripping it down.
