Out of all the features that made FIFA 07 so batshit legendary, "Create a Club" is what I really love the most. I would love to see it return some day but expanded to include the creation of other things such as the kits, the badge (with the option to import real-life badges if you want to recreate a real-life team), the stadium (also with the option to import real-life stadiums), and customize everything from players to manager to sponsors to country of playing and even adboards, and even creating leagues and cup competitions with the clubs you've already created and customizing everything from formats to the option of pro-rel, title deciders (whether it is h2h or goal difference), ability to take part in the CL/Libertadores/EL/Sudamericana and number of teams - basically being able to create your very own footballing world.

I think it varies for different games. For FIFA, esports kind of ruined it as a whole. FUT was getting ridiculous, but at least those Career Mode Online Leagues were fun. For other games, competitive is the fun part about it. Counterstrike the Tactical shooter is more based on competitive aspects, and one of the biggest games in the world. It really does varies in different games as esports can be a significant (fun) part of a game.

I own 3 copies of fifa 07. On ps2, xbox and the fucking awful 360 version. Its easily my fav fifa. I made the whole albion team last season and put them in create a club and career mode and its brilliant. Not many people my age really think of 07 in the best as we grew up with 11-15, but 05-07 imo was the golden era of fifa
