I am exactly like that. I've been playing Fifa for about 6 years now, and I'm still about the same level. I really can't get better at it doesnt matter what I do. I watch so many videos hoping to find a way to crack the good player code. All the tutorials talk about jokey movements, standing/sliding tackles and the right stick player switch but still nothing helps. Like you said, when the whistle is blown....it is back to square 1. I mostly get beaten and sometimes I win and at times it ends in draw but no improvement. I feel a little better that I am not the only one.

Manual defending went from being better if you're good at it to being required. It's worth learning, game is a lot more fun if defending isn't just holding contain and waiting for the AI to get you the ball back.

@@betoherrera333 play with two CDM, both stay back, one set to balanced, one set to cut passes. Use sprint-jockey a lot. This basic shit for manual defending should be enough for DIV4.

I got this game n got spanked all the time cuz I couldn’t defend like I used to. This video showed me that with just one or two changes to how I used the jokey and sprint I could play like I used to. 3 weeks later 8-0, 6-1. There seems to be a button combination that keeps the defender perfectly steady between the opponent and the goal. And since the last update or the one before that nearly impossible to lose. And if you lost the defender, he's right back in front of you two steps later. Has there been a change not noted in the patch notes or am I imagining things? It felt so good finally being able to punish opponents for their mistakes again, now everyone's defending like a god again. Passes are also intercepted way more often again. Any ideas/comments on that, Ovvy? Thanks a bunch in advance!

I would add to this that you should try push them in a certain direction, usually towards the sides and cut them off from passes and keep getting closer and closer with the jockey movement. They either pass the ball back or lose it. Works most of the time but you can’t stop ever pass every time.

Scott Coleman The defending in this game is awful, and I’ve played FIFA for the past 6 years. The way your defenders get exposed is embarrassing, they just stand there half the time and let opponents sail right around them. I’ve just had a game where my full backs were getting exposed by long balls every time, they just stand there and watch the ball sail over them, by the time you’ve switched player it’s too late because you can’t catch up with them.

You need to start being honest about this game fella, because the defending is a joke. I just played Man City and couldn't get near them, they kept on hitting long balls that cleared my fullbacks and they just stood there watching the ball go over them. The issue I have is there's absolutely nothing you can do about it happening, because by the time you switch to that defender the attacker or winger are gone. This game is a big steaming pile of horseshit to be honest, think it's time to go back to playing PES, because at least it plays a realistic game of football even if it's presentation isn't as good as FIFA.

I don't play online, I play against AI in career mode and I'm pretty decent. My problem right now is no matter what I do, I can't defend on World Class difficulty and Proffessional is way too easy. This has been the case for a few years and I'd like to know if you have any ideas on how to improve 🤔 I understand you play online but if you'd play against AI, do you play with default sliders? I find that the AI ping the ball back and forth too quickly on World Class difficulty and it is difficult for me to defend against. Any tips on how to improve would be appreciated.

bruh your tutorial would be great but the fact is this wont help much with defending. FIFA are expecting us to somehow control all the defenders and stop the 2/3 through ball options from midfielders because the computer would rather watch the ball slowly pass them rather than stick a foot out. Even when I'm in a 1v1 with my defender, the opponent just has to change direction and my defenders away to the nearest asda
