The double-team press is amazing. It adds another layer to the defending part of the game - Instead of the regular team pressing it allows you to use semi team pressing. Took me hours to master and I have yet to really, but it's worth every minute of it. BTW thank you Boras, I didn't know it before watching your awesome vid.

I find just using jockey defending helps get the ball back so much more and using the midfielders lw rw etc to defend to like helps defend so much better

takes time... pretty sure you would be a much better version than you were 1 year ago.. try 1-2 passing (first touch) between two players.. since you are saying that your opponent presses... if you give a back pass... your opponent (who is already in pressing motion) will move out of position of your player and space will be created...

Oh gawd I cant defend to save my life on 23. Thank you for making this vid. My only issue is with covering the center...one of my favorite battles is my left/right back vs winger. I cant abandon this aspect of the defensive game. Timed, hard tackles galore. I've noticed how passing lane oriented the def is now. The last fifa I played was 17. Big difference....

Can you do a vid on keeping the ball, opponents keep intercepting too many passes in midfield and im playing very patient possesion football, taking a touch etc. The ai interceptions are ruining the game for me. Also, my fast attackers are being caught up by slow defenders, im not enjoying the game.

Like I find myself sometimes over pressing and sometimes it just doesn't work out in general but I should improve with practice. I think I also have to change my tactics, play around with formations etc.

@@thirtyred7091 you are absolutely right. It takes time and lots of practice. If I may, disregard the pressing. Only use it when u feel u are good enough. Try as much as u can to stay in formation. Maintain ur shape. Don’t drag CBs out of position.

In relation to your subject for demonstration over successful defence I am willing to put some comments on PENALTY existing rules of FIFA---------When a striker is just entering a penalty box to score how the opponent defenders and goal keeper should obstruct that striker without facing penalty ? Should they remain silent in movement or protect any way to prevent score ? It has been observed at several previous occasions when a better team has been made bound to accept defeat and opponent weaker team earns victory as a result of disputed /debatable penalty .. Probably FIFA management should look to it for rectification/modification of this rule . Thanks

Keep your defense compact in the tactics page! Like 40. Don’t drag ur defenders out. Hold your ground. Use your CDMs to defend and DEf as last resort

The problem with all FIFA games for at least a 15 years is that at a certain difficulty, the opposing players turn into Terminators and all your guys turn into compete tards and you end up just chasing the opposing team all over the field. And good luck ever defending a corner kick. At some point they may fix all of that, but it’s been a couple decades and it’s EA Sports, so I’m not holding my breath.

I have a serious question and if anyone..ANYONE can answer it I will be eternally grateful. When you press with your CPU player..how do you get him to get so close to the attacking player? When I do it..the CPU players always stops a few yards off the player and ultimately gets blown right by if I don’t personally switch to the player. I saw your players doing it in the video and it happens to me when I play….it’s very frustrating.

The goalkeeper control is so bad, at first the goalkeepers were fast when controlling them but now they are like chameleons. What has changed? Is that in real life, goalkeepers were fast in the past but slow these days? What benefit does EA get in making the goalkeepers slow? EA has nothing to offer, they just go back and front. In sone five years time the would go back and make the goalkeepers fast when controlling them and that would be fifa 28 and in some years to come they would make them slow again. EA just fool with people's minds by letting them think they have added something new but they just deceive us by removing and bringing back the same thing again.

I have seen any game worse like fifa. A game which has been designed contrary to real life football. You make a through ball and the game sends it to the wrong player, some of the through balls are even obvious passes, on which my min can even make to a colleague player, simple through balls like the ones we see in football, but make the pass and the game sends it to a place where you are likely to loose the ball or where the pass favours the opposition too. Strikers always running to hide behind defenders so that when you make the pass, the opponent can win it easily, nothing like what we see in football, directly opposite. 90 percent of the games passes are in the stomach direction, so if you need to make a quick pass to your player unless you do a ball roll so that he changes his stomach direction, there is 90 percent chance the ball would go to an opponent, I want to ask in real life football do players need to do a ball roll when there is the need to make a pass to his teammates who is tightly marked? Why don't we want to tell ourselves the truth tha this game is nothing but a piece of wasted programming. Goalkeeper controls so slow.

Just my experience, I defending FIFA 23 on ps5 is good, but when switch to ps4 FIFA 23,all my centre back is absolutely like stump and stupid when encounter with fast striker,all the cb is like stop 0.5 second and just watch striker go, and after striker past the cb, and then cb tried to chase.... The button I usually use for defend is run, jockey and pull button

This year defenders would just watch inside of the box on a cross scenario. Unless you control them manually, they are all idiots no matter how high their "defending awareness" is. I am having way more games ending in 5-3 or 8-2 than 1-0 or 2-0. If EA is not fixing it, this would my last football game purchase.

I'm a Div 1 player in FIFA21, but playing FIFA 23 I feel like a beginner. I get trashed easily. I played up until Div 3 but got trashed badly and decided to delete it once and for all. The control is just unbearable. Can't control them at all. Van Dijk can easily catch up with Mbappe. Ball lost easily but for the opponent they are passing the ball easily to one another.

I am being slaughtered in div 8 😂 I think one of the biggest points is responsiveness. Most of the time, you really don't suck at defending, but that little delay it takes for you to jockey to match you opponents attack is enough to get blown by and concede.
