Brilliant Chorus. What I love about the 80's scene was it wasn't just glam or thrash. There were loads of mid range bands that were able to mix heaviness with accessible melodies and choruses.

What used to be called Us metal (american metal bands who didn't play neither glam nor thrash metal, but have a "classic"/"traditional" european heavy/power metal sound to it) is the best type of metal IMHO.

Black Trip, a short-lived newer band from about 10-15 years ago or so is a good one even though they're worship and nothing original, the musicians are veterans who've been releasing albums with other bands for years... Witch Cross - Fit For Fight (make sure you listen to the original or a 2018 - 2024 reissue and not the horrible sounding 2012 version which was the first time it got a CD edition so it's the most commonly found version online) or even Tokyo Blade on the rare occasion when they slowed down. @@roby6993

Tonight (09/18/24) is the first time I ever heard this song and of this band. Loved this song right from the start and it brought me right back to those times! I was 13 in 1980 when heavy metal was still underground. Hard rock had been around for a decade, but metal, in the likes of Dokken, Maiden, Priest, Metallica weren't played on many stations. I remember hearing some critics saying that metal won't last and will die in a few years. How much more wrong could they be?!? I am so happy I was there to see the rise of metal to mainstream. It's a grey area between hard rock and metal, but who cares! I just love this stuff and going to have to check more of these guys out!

When I saw this video many years ago, I thought it was Bon Jovi for a few seconds because I thought the singer looked a bit like Jon Bon with a similar hairstyle and the melodic style of the music. Then I noticed that it sounded so much more metal than Bon Jovi which put an end to my initial impression of it being them. Needless to say, Fifth Angel gained a new fan that day.

I was living with a GF and played this song around the house. I was totally in to the song. She asked me what it meant, and instead of answering what the band said, I said without thinking much, "It's just the way I look at us (our relationship)'. She went and immediately looked at the lyrics. We didn't last of course. But this song was dead on the money about it. I didn't intend to breakup at that point, but obviously there were wheels turning to protect myself. This is why this song means a lot to me. I stood and began to fight for myself.

This brings back a lot of very, very old memories. I was 13 and an outcast and oppressed. I endured horrible things during my youth and this video was on Headbanger's Ball back in 89 which was my unholy baptism into hard rock or as it was called then Metal. I personally think that hard rock and metal have a lot in common, but Fifth Angel really made me smile with their crossover between hard rock and melodic metal. My best friend at the time was horrified. Everybody went and attacked me for loving them. I had threats against me if I bought their albums. This was what life was like for me then and still is now! As an act of rebellion I would crank this when I saw the video after it was on the old VHS you used to record onto. Back in the days before everything turned bad with music and it became non-music.
