Joe's Baseline on "let the sunshine in" probably was my first influence making me want to pick up a bass and learn music. I probably was seven or eight years old when I heard that on the radio back in the late 60s early 70s and even though the whole song was incredible and captivating, I thought the bassline was the most important part of the entire song and was the reason why the whole thing grooved to me and at that moment I was hooked for life... thanks Joe for introducing me and hooking me on the greatest drug anybody can be addicted to and that is music!

I went to a lot of sessions with my Dad Joe Osborn when I was a kid. I still remember well one afternoon walking with Marilyn from the studio to Lums to get lunch for the gang. We had a bite while the to-go food was being made. Marilyn was really nice. I was probably all of 11 years old and she asked me about school, what grade I was in, am I interested in music etc., Just super nice. Best lunch date ever!

Perhaps an obscure fact about the Wrecking Crew is that I believe they backed Laura Nyro at Monterey Pop in 1967. They also were the musicians on the 5th Dimension's cover of the Laura Nyro song 'Wedding Bell Blues' which was Billboard No.1 for 5D in November 1969.

Great interview. So appreciate hear from these evergreen musicians who have set such a high standard for the whole music world. I particularly appreciate their comments about the racial situation in music and society. Some years ago I read an interview in which Marilyn clearly demonstrated her fearlessness in denouncing racism, and we can see that same strength in Bill and Marilyn in this interview as well.

I was in high school from 1968 to 1972. This was my favorite group. Funny thing, I had no idea what color they were - who cared? You can thank my Mom for that. No, I was not that dense, all of my four and eight track tapes were second or third hand - the labels were worn off. As a side note, Florence LaRue was a doll. But on a scale of one to ten, Marilyn was a fifteen.

It's interesting, my wife and I catch advertisements for Time-Life Records and the shows on the PBS"Beg-a-thons" and are sometimes amazed that many of the groups we listened to in the 60's and 70's on the radio were Black groups. We were in a time when a lot of music just didn't "have a color," where radio made it pretty much equal-opportunity for artits to succeed with the listeners. I am aware that there was a lot of bias previously in the music industry, but it seems like it was a golden age when good music was good music and it wasn't defined by what color the musicians and singers were. Perhaps we need to go back to the early 2000's when "color-blindness" was considered a virtue? We listened because the music is good.

Hey Terry, the reason it never made it was the fact I wasn't able to interview them until after the film was cut. But you're right about running time. That's why the DVD has 6 hours of bonus material. Check out the website. wreckingcrewfilm.com to see more.

@@dennytedesco5890 Hi! Thanks for replying! I just got my hands on the actual DVD, so I'll be able to watch it again, including the bonus material. I watched it on a streaming service with my sister and her husband (we're in our 50's) and my 78 y/o mother who was a young woman during the careers of the featured musicians, while I was a little boy who loved the music of the day. It was fascinating, and nice to see the actual musicians (late, as well as surviving) get their (over-)due recognition. I had also read the Kent Hartman book of the same title, and was glad to find this much more lively and entertaining documentary. Thanks for bringing it to the public! -Terry
