What a gorgeous piece of art! And thank you for all the additional information and history bits, as always, great job.

A skosh out of my pecuniary reach;I'll have to make do with my beloved F-C Loom ,an excellent steel nib, indeed. Absolutely love the Loom.

Looms are awesome!

I often consider selling my Loom. Then I read a review saying how terrific it is. I fret. What is it I am missing? So I keep it. The cycle repeats itself. The best thing I can say about mine is how the brown barrel matches one of my favorite inks and ink bottles: SBRE Brown!
@McAmeron089III11 ай бұрын
It's good that we don't all appreciate the same things equally. I have a bottle of SBRE Brown;but,don't really prefer that color. The Akkerman bottles are nice! For me the Loom ticks the right boxes;I prefer non-screw-off caps and posting,cartridge converter filling,fairly simple aesthetics. The elegant steel nib is as well-tuned/smooth as the 14k gold nib on my Pilot 823. The nib on the Loom is what I most love about it.@@user-br3sl9go3b

@user-br3sl9go3b Mine has one of my favorite steel nibs in my collection. It has a very distinctive feedback.
@user-br3sl9go3b11 ай бұрын
Exactly what I said! You made me reconsider my opinion for at least the 10th time! You have further eroded my fountain pen confidence. My Loom has a broad nib. Does that matter? I took it out now from my "inked" collection (I will say it ALWAYS writes no matter how long I haven't uncapped it. P.S. uncapping it is always difficult for me all things considered. I have to pull pull to unsnap it). I explored to feel the very distinctive feedback. I wrote two verses of Poe's The Raven (an apt choice given the situation!). I felt like Cook searching in vain for the North Pole. I can't find one in stock for sale (gunmetal B, black cap brown body), however I am sure I cannot sell it for $6,500 like its distant cousin Ancient Egypt. 🙄 US$375, though, could get me a used Pelikan M800 blue stripe.

Have you done a video with all the pen of the year pens from the different manufacturers? I’ve seen a few collaborations and your video making resin. Is there going to be a David Parker pen of the year available at the DC Pen Show 2024?

Such a beautiful pen, glad to see it in a video. This is a real grail pen for me, one I'll only buy if I win the lottery!

This thing looks amazing. It is in my future. "A solid offering" Ha, Egyptians loved puns! I don't do a lot of scribal work, but when I do it will be with Lazuli ink!

This blue/gold section looks amazing. If it was like this for the whole pen, I think it would look a bit too much cheap Vegas Egyptian theme.

Checked GvF video for Ancient Egyptian, the ink window was transparent blue plastic ink view window. Now it's just clear. Seems it's bit of a down step from Graf von Faber castell. But definitely expensive.

that is one very aesthetically pleasing pen: ashamed to admit haven’t had the pleasure of any GvFC pens yet but it’s only a matter of time!:); really liked that lapis lazuli ink: have bottle of that on it’s way to me now:); thanks for this:)
@doriansoergel816011 ай бұрын
Thanks for the review, GvFC overdid themselves this time. The silver flakes in the lapis lazuli are probably not silver or even man-made but pyrite aka fool's gold, an iron sulfide mineral that very often appears together with lapis-lazuli and as impurities in it.

Truly lovely and desirable pen. Is the 18k gold nib made by Jowo? The feed suggests to me it is. The price is quite stratospheric. I’ve only ever once splurged on a fountain pen with a comparably dizzying price tag : the majestic Montegrappa Queen Night at the Opera. But I can’t afford that flight of madness again to buy this pen. I really do want it, though. Thanks for a good review, David.

When you did the unboxing of this pen, I must say I was not suitably impressed. I see now that photographing this pen is not a walk in the park. This full review has much more effective imaging; the appearance is far more stunning. Thank you for the in-depth presentation.

Thank you for this interesting review! I saw this pen for sale at Harrods in London, and was attracted by its lapis lazuli features but the price is way beyond my reach. The GVFC lapis lazuli ink looks particularly attractive but, unfortunately, appears to be only available with the pen. This is a pity as it would make a wonderful addition to the beautiful range of inks GVFC produces. Perhaps they will issue the ink separately once the series of pens has sold out?
@FigbootonPens Жыл бұрын
I have seen the ink through multiple retailers available to purchase on its own. I was thinking about picking up a bottle myself.
@h.behrens537811 ай бұрын
Because I didn't want to buy a whole bottle straight away, I ordered cartridges. This is also possible. There are various suppliers on the Internet. I ordered directly from Faber.

Thanks for this further information. I shall get a bottle of this wonderful looking ink!

I would say the ink would be Ultramarine blue not Lapis lazuli as it's way to saturated, also the pen is very cool, thanks David.👍🇦🇺

That's a very beautiful pen. Usually the special editions of many companies are over the top and not designed for actual use. Unfortunately, the price is completely crazy and sorry, not worth it.
@talbotd2719 күн бұрын
Here’s my question as a guy who knows nothing about pens. I saw that this pen costs $6500 online. Is it really worth that? Like is it just a premium price you’re paying “because they can?”. Or is it really worth every bit of $6500? Like some luxury brand t shirts can cost $1500. Obviously we all know that anything over $100 for a t shirt is kind of absurd and it just becomes a fashion/ exclusivity thing at that point. Where as a Ford F-150 costs around $40k and that’s pretty much worth the money. Same with a $100 + Carhartt jacket. It’s worth the money. Is this pen worth that amount? Or is it just a premium thing?
@FigbootonPens18 күн бұрын
The value of luxury offerings such as these are rather subjective. But in the grand scheme of things, I don't feel these pens are outrageously priced.
