The question i was waiting for is what Bernard asked and answered. Unfortunately, governments have chosen self-preservation because people in galamsey communities always send threats of no votes, then the opposition members also join in saying when we come we will treat you well, empowering impunity. This didn't start today and with only galamsey. Virtually every issue we need to tackle in any government reeives the same behaviour from who happens to be in opposition and who is illegally benefitting. We will die slowly as a country

How can you fight yourself???? The npp government is deeply involve in this galamsey business so seeking solutions from these same reckless elements is like searching for water on the desert.

Our leaders can't do anything about galamsey because they are complicit. No one can do galamsey without political or chiefs backing them. The very possible we are hoping will solve the problem are directly and indirectly enriching themselves from it.

No human being will work against their interest. The President lost in all the galamsey areas after the ban & the fight b4 the election. A politician will do things that'll not lose him votes. We've rather empowered illegal miners when there wasn't a movement to counter their threats b4 the elections. Had the President won in those areas to prove those against galamsey outnumber those for it, the situation today will be different. Politicians will be falling over each other to prove they're the strongest against galamsey. They would've been the strongest advocates. But today all the candidates are dancing around the issue, not taking any strong position. Unless we accept it as a collective fight rather than finger pointing it won't go anywhere. The old way of fighting our social problems. Just like corruption, the public servant is taking bribe & impeding public service but is the loudest screaming at politicians.
