The younger generation should watch some of the fight scenes in Sean Connery's James Bond movies, then watch Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. That would be a good comparison. The Bond movies always had the best stunts but weren't even close to Bruce Lee's (or most Kung Fu) fight scenes yet.

Yeah, but he's right on point about Bruce, I'm in my 50s now and got into martial arts like a lot of people because of Bruce Lee. Til this day I can sit down and be blown away by Enter the Dragon just like I was as a kid in the 1970s. Dude was just phenomenal, charismatic, unreal and everything Scott Adkins said. They will never be another person in the martial arts genre that captivates and motivates you like Mr. Bruce Lee. The dude was 1 of a kind! I really wish he lived long enough to make more movies, I know that's selfish of me to say that, so please forgive Bruce and everyone reading this. But that's how phenomenal and awesome he was to me. ​@@RotaksPower does matter to a certain point but speed and accuracy always matter because speed generates power Bruce Lee far more faster than Mike Tyson if someone a lot faster than you how can you see it coming before blocking it speed and accuracy always win Mike Tyson is fast as well but Bruce Lee is a lot faster also Mike Tyson is a boxer and most boxers don't have much experience with legs martial arts use all parts your bodies that's why one of Mike Tyson interviews people offering him in MMA fight he declined it is very old clip I found on KZbin because he was smart he declined it because he knows he don't have much experience with legs Bruce Lee was experience in hands and legs as well he studied multiple martial arts not just boxing also MMA and UFC is a sport not real fighting mate because there rules and regulations involved from getting killed his trained for the street not the ring.

It's funny how all those people who have came into contact with Bruce, who have either trained with or by him, have acknowledged how fast and powerful he was for his size. And yet, according to all these Internet critics, because Bruce did not fight competitively this somehow made him a fraud, or "he was just an actor". If Bruce was "just an actor", then somebody like James DeMile, who was one of his students and a heavy weight champ in the US Air Force, would have smoked him. Even Chuck Norris, when asked in interviews who would win a fight between him and Bruce said something along the line of "we just didn't want to go there".

What were his options - risk his health fighting in karate style competitions to win a wooden trophy or make thousands of dollars offering private tuition to Hollywood's A-list and star in television and movies? ....He would have had to be insane to risk his health fighting for nothing just to appease critics and doubters both then and now over 50yrs later.

@@douggherkin Yes and no! Yes, there was not much money in fighting in tournaments back then. No, the lack of prize money was not the primary reason Bruce didn't want to participate in these tournaments. It was well known that Bruce had a disdain for tournament fights, which he felt were limiting due to them being refereed. The fighting style Bruce was focused on is for the street, where there are no rules and anything goes, and therefore he found tournament fights too restrictive. I agree with you that he made more money providing private tuition to Hollywood stars & celebs, since he needed to have a source of income because he wasn't getting offered roles left, right, and center.

I'd say most MMA and true fighters and warriors actually have the utmost respect for Lee . It's the keyboard warriors mostly who attack him and the jealous like MJW and sonnel. Vast majority from Jon Jones to Dana to bonnar, Connor,bas,Tyson,sugar ray etc have the utmost honor for him and say it every time. You have the wannabe yt stars trying to cause drama and conflict by asking people like Mike Tyson dumb questions,Do you think in his prime Bruce could beat you etc. Anything for views and I immediately thumbs down the video and make sure to say don't recommend the channel. He's gone has nothing else to prove let him rest. Yet those making these comments refuse or can't prove how good they supposedly are like MJW. He does all these fight choreography play no touch videos with people and MMA then cast doubt on Lee. MJW put on the pads and go real medium contact,let's see what you got ,since you're talking. But he don't and won't. Just like all the kids in NBA etc many talking now MJ way pass his prime and they aren't even the best in the NBA now or consistently yet going for the Black Cat. You can't be any more genuine than this. There's so much depth in Bruce's work and only true experienced martial artists can truly admire Bruce's work. They are some Hollywood moves too but the trapping, faint jabs and kicks are real works of a super well trained master. Thank you Mr. Adkins for not down playing the deceased greatest of all.

50 years plus since lee death and all his movies as well are 50 plus years old. Still after all this time his movies, screen presence,skill and all the top quality work he put into his films,make me feel like a kid and the first time I've seen these movies. It amazes me how to do this day he's the pinnacle of Martial arts movies and martial arts,father of mma. To anyone who says The Younger Generation wouldnt appreciate this truly doesnt see how large this mans impact was. I remember seeing this in on DVD in Alaska with my Father in the early 2000s at like 8 years old. I was already a Massive Jet Li/Jackie Chan fan and had seen the Matrix Movies dozens of Times and My favorite Fighting Game Series was Tekken and DBZ. When i first watched this film i legitimately believed Bruce Lee had the Aura of being borderline Superhuman. The legacy and Influence i could see from this one man in nearly every piece of Medium i was consuming at this time is something people wish they could aspire to do in their lives.

shows what he can do behind a camera with layed out fight scenes....you could take anyone and make these scenes. You could put Scott in there and it would look even better. You don't need to be a fighter to do what Bruce did in these scenes. It's called acting and practicing for a scripted/choreographed scene.

My favorite Bruce fight is Him vs Chuck in Way of the Dragon I think that fight was kinda the benchmark for the other epic martial arts showdowns that we've had after that fight. The pacing was great, the moves and choreo are still to this day actually still amazing and still holds up.

@DM-ei6oo well, Bruce could have and should have just walked away from the fight. Chuck's character was so injured, he posed no threat to Bruce's character. So why kill him??

Chuck was the one that provoked it even with his broken arm and leg. Bruce knew he wasn't gonna stop so killing him was just the best solution but for him Chuck went out honorably that's why he gave him his Gi at the end of the fight.

Loved your commentary, finally someone who recognizes the greatness of that scene. I think the fight in the cave was by far his most outstanding performance on screen I wholeheartedly concur, and the lighting is absolutely breathtaking. You can see each bead of sweat.💧

Wholeheartedly agree. His physique here is quite simply astounding, plus no wasted or superflous motion, just direct, effective actions. Bruce, at his absolute peak here - makes his passing all the more unbearable - he clearly had much more to give in his life. I still believe foul play myself. Yes Betty Ting Pei gave him a tablet for his headache, whilst he was at her apartment, but I personally don't think that's what did for him. Reason being, in May of 1973, whilst dubbing ETD, he collapsed and had siezures and was luckily rushed to hospital in time, where it was quickly established that his brain was swelling, so the doctors took the appropriate action, and saved him on that occassion. Betty Ting Pei was not involved on that occassion, and no headache tablet was administered. So somebody had to have either slipped something into his food or drink, or perhaps he sustained a blow to his head either in rehearsals or actual fight scenes. It had been reported that he'd received several blows to the head during filming - whether accidental or otherwise is still unanswered, but rather pointless to debate now anyway. He famously had arguements with Raymond Chow on set, and things became so heated that Bruce had to sign a piece of paper to say that he would refrain from doing Chow physical harm. Bruces' future plans after ETD, were to attempt to bteak into the US movie market once more, following the success of ETD - everyone already knew they had a winner on their hands, and still years later, it's not hard to see why. My own feeling is that Chow was trying to tie Bruce to movie making projects in Asia, whilst Bruce wanted to go back to Hollywood and prove a poit to those who had snubbed him previously, that he was, indeed, the real deal. I think that Chow thought if he couldn't benefit from Bruces' undoubted star power, and all the fame and money that went with it, he wasn't going to let anyone else get their hands on the prize either. Others may have other opinions about Bruces' untimely demise. All of the foregoing is simply my own opinion.

When you watch this fight scene, you realize that Bruce was evolving everyday. His JKD was evolving to greater heights, he was truly the embodiment of simple, effective, efficient striking. This is phenomenal to watch!!

Bruce even said he did not fight like this in real life. These moves were for show, to look flashy in the movies. This does not show Bruce's fighting technique evolving as you say...since this is not how he fought in real life.

Actually you are right because these moves were deadly, throat chops etc. but you can clearly see his art evolving from his 1st movie to this movie. Of course this is choreographed and made flashy for the movies. He said the nunchucks were a piece of crap but they were awesome for the movie screen. But if you can't see that his art has evolved then you need to use a keener eye. And I also beg to differ I'm sure some of these techniques were used in real confrontations if he was in any. Stop hits/kicks, feints, non telegraphic motion, these are all written in private notes that we have been able to see because of people like John Little.

But the older I get, the more I realize what an incredible presence and charisma this man had. he lives every kick and every punch he throws. Bruce is still unmatched when it comes to the intensity he puts into his fight scenes. He doesn't need to be flash, because he's intensity enhanced his simplicity of moves, making it all feel very real in the moment. You do a good job with the intensity you put into your fight scenes too! I can really feel that your character is in an emotional state, the anger, the pain, it all adds to the fight scene.

Many action stars and pro fighters look up to Bruce.. Once Eddie Murphy admitted that since he had no acting training to be an "Action" star and he said he copied Bruce Lee in the way he looked with his eyes and moved his head and mannerisms and so forth it totally makes sense and he did it perfectly.

Donnie Yen played Ip Man, Bruce Lee's teacher. Bruce played Chen Zhen, student of Huo Yun Jia. Huo was played by Jet Li. Jet and Donnie both played Chen Zhen.

As a child in the early-mid 80s, I knew who Bruce Lee was. I knew what he looked like, what he sounded like, and I could impersonate him. And yet, I'd never seen any film or TV show with him in. I can't even remember how I learned about him. He was such a massive pop culture icon that he just seemed to appear in my brain.

I've lost count as to the number of times watching "Enter the Dragon" from its first theatrical release back in 1973. The "Citizen Kane of Martial Arts movies." Although never having met Bruce Lee, I did meet and became friends with Jim Kelly.

It is not so easy to be a master and at the same time show humility. It is more typically human to be full of yourself and believe you can beat anyone. But for that reason I really do revere Scott adkins . He's an excellent example to kids just starting out in martial arts. 👏

Hi Scott , just want to say that you are brilliant to watch on film , you are up there as one of the of the best martial artists especially in movies, to me you like Bruce you do so many things , unseen or very difficult and different to do , Bruce deserves the admiration and love he gets but you and a few others , not many really will also be talked about like this in many years to come ,
