I like the part where Tyler says all of his confidence is what the narrator wishes he could be showing that confidence was within the narrator the whole time, also cool Marla outfit

I heard fight club was suppose to be about accelerationist ideals since even though the narrator takes control of himself at the end of the movie he and marla get togheter after the collapse of society

i read once that fight club was like an abstract representation of comunism, idk how someone see it that way but it's interesting i guess
@-tzadakim-78052 ай бұрын
It is in a way. The idea is that we are consumers, never satisfied with what we have. The main character loses everything he owns in an explosion, and is now free from consumerism. He doesn’t have to have the next best thing after he had already bought the last best thing the week prior. Personally, I relate to this because I am a collector. I collect pocket knives and lighters but I am never truly satisfied. I consume and consume and consume and it gets exhausting. So I understand the philosophy where freedom may lay in wait behind a society you do not own anything, but it isn’t sustainable. People are poor, sick, and hungry under communism.

who wouldnt want to be Tyler Durden? Well, any person, who has a good amount of self esteem. Tyler's strengths are all superficial, and he is the bad guy in the story. he has no emotional depth and is unable to express feelings other than condescension or anger. does that sound appealing? :D he does engage in some fun banter though, I guess thats something. I love fight club, cause it depicts some of the most toxic aspects of malehood in our current times very well. ultimately the narrator was only able to connect with Marla when he got rid of the embodiment of his nihilism, his fear of rejection, Tyler Durden, who seemed so desireable at the surface, yet was nothing but a sad, pathetic, destructive part of his personality that was beyond taking a genuine hug to get his shit together. consumerism is bad, capitalism sux, hierarchies suck, but the conclusion of the movie is that nihilism isnt the answer, giving into your destructive, violent impulses isnt the answer, community, connecting with people, that is the answer. and it is what the narrator has been attempting from the very start. and it almost worked, but the appearance of Marla made him unable to genuinely open up and see himself anymore, because of his internalized machismo. when the existance of a woman in proximity makes you switch into another mode of being so hard that it might trigger a machismo personality to surface, well that says alot more about you and the culture you grew up in, than it says about women.
