Love watching the boys "tussle" in the corral...just as young boys do and should! Johnnie is cute as ever...the big little man that he is! Yes, it was great seeing her watch Risey! I think that it's harsh to say that Uniek "doesn't care" any longer. Certainly, she doesn't think of him as her foal any longer, but he's still a member of the herd. Their relationship has evolved. :)

@@kimberlychester4358 Well, I would love to think she "cares" for him, too, but since I grew up on a farm around all kinds of animals, (not horses) I know that Yvonne is correct when she says Uniek has moved on as has Risey...it's the way it goes in the animal kingdom...not harsh...just the way it is...they both still hold a special place in my ❤. And, whether she was actually watching him or a bird flying overhead, it was nice to think she was watching her boy playing....

It's almost like Uniek was watching her son Risey from the arena and remembering that he was once her sweet little boy. Maybe someday it will be safe for them to say hello to each other in the pasture. Idk, maybe I don't know about horses, but it's a nice thought that Uniek and Risey could scratch each other. Risey is really a courageous spunky young stallion. To me, he has leadership qualities like Uniek. Her being such a caring mommy to him and her Fresian milkshakes made it happen. Johnny and Sjors are still macho!!! 🤣😂🤣

I had the pleasure of a horse for a companion when in my early teens. It was a very tough time in my life and I credit that horse for saving me during those years. We went on long rides, walks and swims together or just played in a meadow or rested under a tree. She listened to me, nickered her own thoughts, rested her big head against me. I think of her often. I am in my 70s now. It is no wonder that there are so many stables set up with therapy horses now.

Johnny, you international studmuffin, you! And it’s such a treat to see the colts at play! It’s a kind of bond-building that we don’t see among the mares. On an ongoing basis, though, there’s nothing as good as the friendships and herd culture of the mares, especially as they go about the all-important work of raising foals!
