Ive read or heard (cant rightly remember) that this game wasn't exactly finished and maybe Atari couldn't pay someone to finish maybe because the lack of funding. I could be wrong. But anyway if that was the truth game wasn't finished who knows how this game would have turned out. Definitely needs some work but real potential it had. To bad because it has a interesting back story. As it stands its playable but not a whole lot more. At least its better than Checkered Flag (I managed to beat that game).

It's a good theory. I'd love to get a chance to talk to Yves at some point and get his take on it. I have the Atari Jaguar Players Guide from 1995 and he intimated that it was a fairly smooth process but it would be nice to hear what he thinks in retrospect.

True story: first time I ever played this game, I beat it.

@ItsCoolFromSaturn I wish, but I did discover the AI is completely helpless against the jump kick. So I performed a few dozen, maybe hundreds, jump kicks to the rest of the characters until I had beaten every one.

Such an awkward game. It looks bad, plays very stiff, but it did hold my attention for a while. Which is more than can be said of most fighting games.

I will say I end up going back to it repeatedly because it does have some kind of allure to it? But yes, that doesn't excuse its mechanical issues.

@@ItsCoolFromSaturn exactly. It is at least quirky and interesting. Something like Double Dragon V just hasn't got any appeal.
