I've only been to locals once. I got 6th place. All I used was a deck put together from 3 traptrix structure decks. Noone prepares for the amount and variety of trap holes that deck can put out. My most interesting match however was game 2 against a Cyber Dragon player. I had first turn, setup was: Pinguicula, Rafflesia, Sera. Than he royally f*cked himself over with his 2 pot cards at the start of his first turn, banishing multiple combo pieces for his strongest plays, both from deck and extra deck. All he had left was a way to bring out Infinity. 2 of them in fact. But when the rank 5 XYZ that Infinity can runk up on is banished due to bottomless trap hole TWICE, he kind of just passed theturn, and Atypus powered beatdown occured.

This series is really inspirational for me. It took forever for my local store to be OTS status and now all I want to try to do is top locals. I’m not beating that undefeated Unchained or Rescue Ace player, but I’m pretty happy if I can go X-1 with my untiered deck.

Congrats to Logan for her top, as For me, i have been able to return to comp. Play slowly after some health issues and other factors and while i am not 100% yet i am getting better every day, and to be honest as sad as it is my health will never be as good as it was in my 20s and that's ok i am doing my best with the hand i have been dealt but something cool happened at my local's Top Choice Gaming in Colton, Ca about an 1 hour and 5 mins outside of Downtown we stream our tourneys sometimes on twitch, and we have players that have topped regional events on their own teams like team TCG and my mentor of the deck i play now team 40k as for me, i am currently playing a deck i call Lockdown it's my take on using my knowledge of MTG prison decks where unlike control in yugioh i let you keep your cards in magic control is a lot diff. Where i dictate what cards you have and don't have, for example i play teched Crackdowns where for example i stole an opp. empen made an XYZ gambit with it and 2 golden lords as it's a level 10 monster and proceed to shatter their field with my fun spicy tech superdimensional robot galaxy destroyer used the effect to crush their back row as the effect is spell speed 4 and sat on my throne with a giant robot and skill drain that lead me and my OCG theory built deck to a top 8 finish and i am starting my own team we so far have 5 members with me as the leader as i have the most exp. 20+ yrs it was first started as a check on the other more money teams in our area, but now they are seeing us as a threat as i have left my fun gimmick tricks behind and using my knowledge of OCG theory and TCG meta mindset to crush the opp.

Our locals is a bit bigger so it’s hard to everyone to get the cards. We only get so many boxes & not everyone get things they are looking for so it’s not really fair for some players to have everything, & some to have nothing. So we wait until the set it out so that everyone can get what they need :)

The honest answer is there really isn’t a great replacement for them. I’m going to try the new cards from this set but I can’t say they will be cheap either. The punk cards should be pretty cheap now & maybe include some danger monsters? They are free bodies & can put things in GY. :) hope that helps & good luck!!
