I think the best-way to achieve this is just to actually shake your camera then stabilise the footage or add a horizontal camera shake in post or whatever and stabilise that and play with the intensities of each effect, if you look in the video brad pitt is standing still in the shot so all the shake is coming from the camera or FX just shake your camera and play around a bit :) youll get it eventually

@@JoeJoe-nb3lt what do you mean by that? pushed frame rate at shutter 180° will result in a slowmotion... I'm interested in what you mean though. I like this shot and tried to recreate it twice, by shaking the camera on a tripod and then stabilizing the clip on the eyes. Worked well :-)

@siromax90 The easiest & controlled way to do this to use wiggle expression on after effects. But you have to take the shot very carefully & planned way while shooting it. wrap stabilizer will blur heavily a very shaky footage....

easy (and possibly incredibly tedious) is to image stabilize and do it frame after frame for full control. renders pretty nice results. just takes some time.

You're the all singing, all dancing crap of the world." I think Tyler is talking to the narrator (Ed Norton) as well as to the audience here. Which could be why the film strip is revealed and also why Fincher chose to break the 4th wall. Tyler is looking at US, reminding us of the identity behind the facade of our monetary worth. We're not just here to make and spend money, or continue collecting more and more material things. We're here to sing and dance and piss and bleed and fuck and frolic like the strange crap conscious creatures we are...or something like that.

i think, it is also a homage to ingmar bergman's 'persona', a film that also deals with personalities merging with their shadow self. both are heavily influenced by C.G. Jungs theories and use fourth wall breaking and a kind of meta- self referencing aspects to the cinematic language by using the physical aspects of film (te material). in persona it burns, in fight club it shakes.
