May I suggest that if you are going to have those two screens on one side, that you move the main display over a little bit so that we can enjoy the middle of what you're doing and not just only mainly seeing one side.
@CommandT2 ай бұрын
That won’t really work. If I do that then you’ll get massive black patch s at the top and bottom as the main picture would have to shrink. Otherwise I’d have to cut the right side off. It’s a compromise but at least this way you always see where the bandit is and I don’t see an issue with covering some part of the left screen.
@Bullet4MyEnemy2 ай бұрын
I suspect he was gambling that you’d miss the shot, allowing him to carry the separation he created into the vertical again - having just bled your speed through a combination of you climbing to meet him and pulling for the shot - allowing him to then effectively energy trap you. But without extending first the energy discrepancy wouldn’t have been there to make it work. Would be interesting to see how different it would’ve been if you’d missed. …Couldn’t you just ask him though? He stopped manoeuvring in relation to you which is generally only done when losing visual or intentionally separating to reset the fight or regain energy, but I don’t think he lost vis because from the TacView there would’ve been constant line of sight from the cockpit. I do also think that force feedback is giving you an edge that is hard to translate on screen, which might’ve accounted for him having a harder time reading the energy - not because he can’t see it but because he can’t “feel” it like you can so might be making assumptions based on his own lack of sensation. TrackIR Vs. 1:1 tracking from reality or a VR headset can also skew your perception of angles at times as well due to difference in FOV, it’s possible a cross over shot like the one you made would be much more difficult if made without head tracking; if his FOV was wide during that time, because he was zoomed out further, he might not have recognised the risk. There are too many variables in the control set ups alone before you even get to the actual geometry of the fight lol. Just ask him! 😂
@CommandT2 ай бұрын
Yeah tbh I also don’t think he lost sight. He certainly didn’t mention that. I think it was just a BFM error. Exactly why it happened doesn’t really matter at this point. Regarding FFB - maybe partly true though! And I have also noticed I was better in VR than in 2D back when I had VR! I think my friend is getting a VR headset at some point in the not too distant future so it’ll be interesting to see the difference in performance.

Your Eurofighter driving friend was feeling good about himself at 6:55... too good. Decided to "come off his meds" and terribly attempt to say hello. 1. He has good energy management keeping himself well away from you biding his time until you made a mistake; it never came. 2. His goal was to run you out of gas? "Promotion Through Attrition". Promoted to "Legendary Hero" during 5:00 pm Friday Beer Call at The Mess. A kill is a kill. High hopes indeed. 3. Watched an F-15 training documentary years ago, class instructor said if you keep the Eagle at 450 knots, you will defeat the MIG-29. It appears he was/is right. Mr. Typhoon just so happened to watch this documentary? 4. F-16 vs MIG-29 reports are similar. The Viper will "push" the Fulcrum all over the sky until *doom on you* time. Seems the Eagle can do the same (>450 kts). Really enjoy these 1 v 1 videos. Thanks kindly. The EJ200 is a low-bypass engine, something like .3 or .4... essentially a leaky turbojet. Should give the Eurofighter excellent high altitude performance. Ditto for the F-22's F-119s; .4. Watched an interview of a Raptor pilot. He was Mach 2 at 60,000ft, 5-10 degrees nose up and accelerating. I suspect similar performance for the Eurofighter. Ask your Eurofighter friend if he could catch my late, F-104 driving father, up at 70,000ft and Mach 2+.
@KingMen1Force2 ай бұрын
Hm, looking at your 3rd point, I dunno how accurate that is. From the E-M charts I've seen the Fulcrum at 430 knots rates better than the Eagle at 450 knots. But judging how the Eagle was keeping better speeds throughout the vertical fight maybe that instructor meant it in a vertical fight? Either way in that situation what mostly matters is pilot skill, since you will be able to force the fight you want to fight easier if you're more skilled than the opponent.
@knightonwarbeck19692 ай бұрын
@@KingMen1Force The F15 instructor was limited in what he said/could say on camera. Sadly, all I got was "... if you keep it at 450 knots you will WAX the MIG-29." Yeah, very vague. Perhaps he meant DO NOT GET SLOW??? Could the E-M charts available to the public are not accurate, the real E-M charts are classified? Give the "enemy" false information so when the time comes for the merge, the J or SU or MIG pilot has already lost?
@aztec011226 күн бұрын
I don't know for sure, but it looks like he tried to execute a barrel roll or "rollaway" attack. He appears to be stuck in lag, so he pulls up, rolls in the opposite direction, pulls over the top, reposition his nose in lead and comes back down in lead pursuit. It was reportedly quite effective against agile low T/W in the SEA like the MiG-17. Obviously, it risks losing sight, but he'd be dropping down on you in lead. Problem is, he didn't account for the near energy parity provided by the - 29's engines. I've read the counter to the high yo-yo, the rollaway and the barrel roll is to pull up into it. A low T/W fighter simply pulling g's in the turn probably would not have the energy to counter his move. But your MiG did so quite easily. Might have been different with heaters.
@arizonasean719814 күн бұрын
In Star Wars the fighters have mines they release that blow up stuff behind them. Like a mid air depth charge. Or like a smart missile, so if they are behind they drop down and back up protecting the rear. Expanse tv show does that creative use of missiles well, in like one battle where they time it to blind enemy ship, then do the hard reverse. Obvious a lot of programming errors by militaries failing to add extra functioning to the aircraft munitions to handle such.

@zloychechen51502 ай бұрын
if you do mean missiles, it's as to not reveal tactics, which is classified. Obviously, noone knows for sure, for instance, the energy characteristics of their adversary's missiles, but fighter pilots have _some_ data on that. So their actions in DCS might indicate that pilot's airforce's knowledge on the missiles. And the airforce doesn't want their enemy to know what they know. I think GS did a fight with a French fighter dude, and that dude spoke about it somewhere, he has his own channel.

Well now that’s got me thinking. Aircraft that could beat a TV Flanker isn’t long. F-22 for the Americans, but something tells me he’s not American. In Europe, there’s the Hornet (but a Hornet pilot would really have to work for that kill, and it would be an uphill battle). The Eurofighter could handily beat a Flanker, but it’s not optimized for wrestling to the deck. It’s a kick boxer, high and fast. (Edit: someone said somewhere that he’s a Eurofighter pilot, but I don’t actually know the truth, will continue to speculate). That leaves the Rafale, which aside the from the Raptor is the one fighter that I think of that crushes the one circle. I don’t expect a reaction. I want your friend’s privacy respected, as do we all. I’m just thinking out loud here.
