@@AfterburnPodcast Haha, this makes up for not seeing you perform at Oshkosh a few years ago. When Can we get RaZZ on the podcast? I know he's pretty busy at the moment but you should reach out to him. Him & Carter Pals are both from my state so it's very special having them on demo teams. I didn't ever expect anyone from Iowa to be a demo pilot but im thankful for it as the first F22 demo I saw was him at his hometown show and I would consider him & the F22 demo family. And also Carter Pals from the Viper demo team.

1. on the DCS main screen select "replay" 2. click on the replay for this air show 3. when it loads up and you see your cockpit, enter the F10 map 4. find the airbase that you flew this show at and zoom in on it 5. press CTRL+F11 and you will be looking down at the airbase 6. use the numpad to look around and * or / to move forward and back until you are "standing" in a position that is looking at the runway 7. look around and find your jet taxiing onto the runway and get it centred on the screen and hit . (period) on the numpad and the camera will slew and lock to your jet 8. as you carry out the airshow press right CTRL+ * or / to zoom in and out 9. enjoy a point of view from a person standing on the airfield of your airshow maybe even record it.

Super cool to see you talk through the Demo Profile. Excellent video. I'm sure this is probably foreign to you using TrackIR, but look up some videos on setting up TrackIR and play with the settings, you'll be able to make it feel much more intuitive and natural(relative to flying in DCS, obviously you are used to 1:1 head movement in the real jet)
@AfterburnPodcast4 ай бұрын
Definitely requires a bit to get used to
@99AudiMan094 ай бұрын
@@AfterburnPodcast 100% I might be able to email you my TrackIR profile. I've been using it for almost 2 years (not a real pilot IRL...yet) but it's fairly intuitive once you have the axis curves adjusted to your liking in the software. But having that centering button is crucial to reset your natural head position.

Nice. I was stationed at Shaw in the early 00s. I learned that demo pretty well sitting out on the flightline. They loved getting real low. Below the area lighting low coming from over the squadrons. 😂 they made everyone drop down once or twice. For your hot as stick, put some curve in it. It'll help with smaller movements. I use about 26 curve pitch and roll.

From your perspective are the DCS F16 flight characteristics off a bit since you said a couple times things were happening slower than in real life? The game definitely seems slower to me after watching your real life demos.

Surprisingly close. The takeoff in a clean config has a delayed rotation and I think my roll sensitivity needs some tweaking but other than that pretty spot on.

Hey Rain, are you using the tobi eye tracker?
@ballomni2 ай бұрын
Like riding a Bike, Bravo Zulu, so I am guessing you have about 3000+ hours in the Viper and your rate was Major when you got out. First video I have seen from your channel, my son was a Navy Test Pilot, back in my DOD days I flew the T-38 back in the 70’s with the J85s and as my son says the old steam gauges, unlike his glass cockpit in test pilot school, as well as the F18 , flew the base F18 sim, which was not as good with the graphics as DCS. The big question is how does it fly in this sim to reality? Mover says it’s dirty, even when it’s clean? My son says the F18 is much easier to fly than the T38.. However he enjoyed the T38 saying, you have to fly the bird all the time. Now being 64 and 127 lbs fatter, I would not even fit into my flight suit. My son who is still in the reserves, (an FAA TEST PILOT) looks like a Men’s health cover at 36 father of two, still does the monthly hops out of Houston. Thank you for your service! May God Bless you and keep you safe..

Oh I se you've taken next step into simming sir. Very nicely done, esp when this 'pants feel' is lacking from rl flying. I hope you liked the experience. BTW as mentioned below there's another F-16 (and recently F-15C) sim that you might be interested in: Falcon BMS. Mover has tried it recently and he liked how Mighty Viper is flying there. Would be cool to see your opinion if you'll ever find spare moment to try it. Also it would be great opportunity to settle heated 'Knife Edge pass' debate, because you, sir and Mace are two most competent persons I can think of to make a judge.

I don’t know if you got the force sensing stick or the normal stick, but if it’s force sensing, it might help tuning down the stick force if you’re playing on a desktop. Looks like you didn’t actually max out the roll “travel” and that’s why you got sloppy rolls.
