@@steveswangler6373 Why do you say Tommy was known for a glass jaw?I hear that a lot,its not just you however.Lets question the glass jaw accusations about Tommy Morrison.This may be lengthy because this question is aimed at everyone who makes this statement about Tommy.Tommy's record was 48W-3L.One fight he lost by KO was to Michael Bentt who didnt have a lot of power.Out of 51 pro fights and getting caught by one decent but not great fighter doesn't mean he has a glass jaw.Lets look at Ray Mercer.Ray was losing on the cards when Tommy gassed out and Ray KOed Tommy with one of the most brutal KOs ever in boxing.Ray Mercer was 17-0 going in against Tommy.Ray knocked out all 4 of his Olympic opponents.He finished 36-7 and was known for being heavy handed.Then Tommy lost by TKO to Lennox Lewis of which he seemed to have been very outmatched by and lost every round leading up to the TKO.I know we all have certain fighters we dislike for whatever reasons but the claim that Morrison had a glass jaw is a bit exaggerated one would think.Can we agree on that at least.Just my opinion and not here for discourse but discussion.Peace!

Had the pleasure of meeting him twice. Once was in Virginia at an Arcade I worked at when he was training for a fight at VMI. Him and his coach came in and I gave them a bunch of free games. He signed an autograph that day for me and I got one for my Dad as well, who was also a huge fight fan. The second time I met him was in Vegas years later and my Dad was with me that time. We went to the weigh-in the day before and got to talk with him afterwards. He took pictures with my Dad and I and signed autographs again. He was to have fought Arthur Weathers the next day as a tune-up fight for his upcoming fight with Tyson. I asked him when he was gonna knock out Weathers and he said, "As soon as he makes a mistake." Unfortunately I never got to see him fight in person, because when my Dad and I were at the fight the next day, they announced that Morrison would not be fighting because of a medical reason. When I got back to L.A. I found out on the news that it was because of his HIV diagnosis. I was absolutely crushed to hear this news. He was still so young and had such a promising career ahead of him. Still has an impressive record for his relatively short career with 48 wins, 42 KO's, 3 losses and 1 draw. He without a doubt had one of the most devastating left hooks in boxing history and his right wasn't half bad either. Thanks for putting together this greatest hits of his. Morrison was a great fighter at times. His attitude was good, and he knew what he had to work on, but his lifestyle out of the ring often left him less than adequately prepared for some of his fights. If he could have avoided the out of ring distractions he could have been one of the all time greats. That left hook was a bomb when it landed. But his right was pretty awesome, too. His biggest flaw was that he was too easy to hit. That could have been worked out if he just would have dedicated himself more to training and less to partying. Even as he was, he was one of the most exciting boxers of his era.
@dbodooley2 жыл бұрын
A shame he wasn’t more dedicated in his boxing career and was too busy partying and all that. He could have been listed as one of the greatest heavyweights.
