Floyd is easily in the running for TBE. He defeated more Champions than anyone else. Probably the only fighter to have that clean of a face after a 20-yr Boxing career. He basically had 2 careers in which he re-branded himself. One as "Pretty Boy" and of course "Money". Floyd wasn't always just a great Defensive Boxer. He was a combination throwing badass with many knockout highlights as "Pretty Boy" Floyd. He fought MANY fighters in their prime and he earned his 'A-side' privileges the correct way. He fought Oscar under his rules and circumstances with Oscar's choice of gloves. He also played the B-side to Gatti and defeated him with ease with no complaints. Floyd witnessed family and other Boxers suffer from head trauma conditions and learned he had to fight for himself because no fan, promoter or analyst will ever be satisfied anyways. His list of defeated opponents adds up to a star-studded resume.

Its the quality not quantity, he may have beaten many champions but the quality, Robert Guerro was a champion, victor Ortiz was, zab judah ad etc, the reason why Ray Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, and Duran had loses was because they all fought each other and were excellent boxers, if the "champions " that floyd beat fought any of them four guys they would get Hospitalized KOed! (And floyd would even get beat TOO) So yea he beat more champions but as farr as to compare them to another generation you have to also judge the quality, jus cause someone is a champion doesnt tells the WHOLE story! Cause 1st of all there are soo may belts that gets tossed around like it is nothing so the generation can be trash all it wants but thats not gonna stop boxing from having champios cause a belt doesnt have standards on what a champion iss or skill ad etc but a win.......... And also back in the day there werent really multiple belts..... Now a days anyone thats decent is a champion
@chuckElegend
@chuckElegend 6 жыл бұрын
And also the reason ALI #TheGreastestOfAllTime has a loss was because he fought Joe Frazier, Floyd has never fought anyone that was even in comparison......... No matter how good ALI was, No matter how fast he moved, or how muched he held Fraizer, no matter how much he popped him in the head with jabs str8's and hooks, uppercuts, no matter how harrd he hit Fraizer for all 15rounds and all 15rounds Fraizer never gave up and kept coming foward for ALL 3 fights and kept fighting with the every once of will to win ALL THE WAY TO THE END........... THAT IS WHAT A TRUE CHAMPION ISS, and Floyd has never faced anyone like that a day in his life.......... Thats the meaning of being tested.......... Thats back in the days where all the real champions deserved a belt win or loss, the Fab4 with hagler and hears and THEM and etc

If you're a Boxer like myself, you should have already knew this. I used this "trick" so many times in the ring. It's a effective 1. There's a lot that you can do by feinting and using eye contact to think your going to go for that particular punch. There's so many tricks in Boxing, i good boxer would just get a natural point where they don't notice the tricks anymore, it's natural. But i give him props for educated y'all on boxing. Some good tips if you didn't know

People like to say Floyd avoided prime black fighters. What about Juuko, Augustus, Corley, N'dou, and Judah? But the guy that everybody forgets is Diego Corrales. Remember, Spanish is not a race. There are only four ancestral groups(Caucasian, African, Asian, and Native American). Corrales is more black than anything else. People call Thurman black but Corrales probably has more African ancestry than Thurman.

Right, i dont think floyd ducked anyone in his prime or early post prime. if anything oscar, mosley etc ducked him. I do think at the end of his career he knew he was getting over the hill and people like brook or thurman could have been a problem due to youth. Right now, brook spence, thurman and maybe even porter would beat floyd, as he is old.
@Yammie_Moto671

Some gems in this interview here. Hearing him talk about getting down with Pernell Whittaker (RIP), puts into perspective a lot of his skill the ring when he's getting in there with high level guys in training. That part where he talks about forgoing the KO with guys he could've knocked out, to try out and refine techniques, is also a really interesting thing too. He's got a great mindset towards training, very inspiring!

dont like everything about the man, but there is no arguing that the man played life like a game of chess and won. And that in itself is admirable. He is not TBE in my opinion, but there is a case to be made for it and it is a great and legit case. He will be one of those figures that advances the sport's tactics and history. What I mean but that simply is, the game will be/ is different after he left his mark on it. You cant say that about alot of the fighters. Even alot of the great ones.

How can you not like Mayweather when you don't even know him personally? People who know Floyd says he's the kindest man. Freddie Roach: "I knew Floyd since he was a little kid, very respectful and a nice guy". This is why Floyd is the best in our generation (him and Pac). The dude is a true student of the game. I don't think he's a "genius" in the sense that it was inborn--I just think he was obsessed with boxing and getting better in boxing and learning how to get better. We can learn a lot from that mindset.

He was starting to tell a story about how he sparred with a guy who beat Julio Cesar Chavez, then he mentioned that Chavez was over 80-0, then he got distracted because he had to throw in why his undefeated record was better than Chavez haha. Don't get angry at that though, guys at this level have devoted their whole lives to being the best in every way they can. Of course they're going to fight for their public image also. Bobby Fischer hated talking about chess when he was older, but an interviewer mentioned to him once that Jose Capablanca was the greatest chess player, and Fischer couldn't help mentioning all the mistakes he found in Capablanca's self-written chess books. lol.

Floyd is a Great fighter in the sport, there is no question about it, world champion, legend, a hall of famer, but the best ever i don't see that. When you look at the number of fights Sugar Ray Robinson fought in his career I think the numbers say it best. Robinson fought 200 fights over his 25 year career, sometimes he fought 3 fights within a week. Floyd has fought an average of 2 to 3 fights a year. Thats another level. Its more than just wins and losses or being undefeated. The times and the sport were so different back then I don't think anyone of present day can assume that they are above, and I'm just referring to Sugar Ray Robinson. There were many Greats from that era and the blacks had to fight the racism at the same time. First blacks to do this and that. just my opinion
@christiankalala840
@christiankalala840 7 жыл бұрын
Mit Nedlob alot of those numbers back in the days were not with fighters at their class. That's why he could fight 3 easy fights a week. They needed the money. Mayweather has the quality. He has fought top quality fighters. He fought against the best out there, whose record snd fighting skills proved why they were champions

Trae X what you have to understand is that the landscape of fighters today are totally different from the 80s.. those fighters would've been the most feared fighters if they were who they were and fought in today's climate of boxing. I don't even think Floyd would've won against those fighters back then.. the hunger was different if you go to most gyms today they are not packed with kids who are so poor that boxing is all they have..mfs coming to the gym with 200$ Jordans on. the hunger was different. So what I don't do is get caught up in what the past was like vs this era because it was 100% different.. you have to salute this guy for what he's done today and definitely salute the great ones who came before him..

Casamayor at 135-140, Sugar Shane Mosley in his prime at 135-140, Pacquiao 10 years ago, Cotto when he was unbeaten and the world wanted that fight, Cory Spinks when he was dominating, Paul Williams (whose height/reach alone scared Floyd so he completely avoided him), and every other fighter who posed a serious threat to Floyd and he called "easy work" but never fought, then he took on the OBVIOUSLY easy-to-beat fighters. Like he said, "I'm older now...this is a young man's sport...I work smarter, not harder", which is code for, 'why take on the big challenges when I can take on the big names that bring big money and aren't much of a challenge instead?" 👎👎 I do look at the history of the sport and all the numbers so forgive me for not being a raging fan and buying into the TBE propaganda.

Bo Vice You're soooooo tough. 😂😂😂 Another brave soul behind a computer screen. I don't care who said it first, if Jay-Z actually did. I was just referencing the Yo Gotti song ft Lil Wayne. You silly young boys get so worked up over KZbin comments. You're either super sensitive and emotional or you have really low self esteem and need to talk trash to make yourself feel better. That's childish. And I'm sure you'll have another toughman comment but whatever. That actually shows a lack of maturity and confidence, not an abundance of it. God bless you.

I respect floyd but he talks about he has beaten more world champions than any other boxer in the history of the sport. But if you know your history there are more belts now in boxing than there was back in the day so floyd come back to me when you done what sugar ray Robinson & sugar ray Leonard done . Plus look at Floyd's resume there are no tommy Hearns Roberto Duran & Marvin Hagler on there , so i will never put him above them 2.
