As some have pointed out, it's better to always salvage and then just sell the Jewel Fragments you get from salvaging afterwards. One jewel fragment is worth 1000 and you usually get 10+ per item so it's much more worth salvaging and then selling the jewels.

Regarding certain weapon types that scale off different values it's safe to assume if you play aggressively with say spear which scales off earth/wood(a few do wood) that mixing fire virtue to improve spirit gain and usage would improve the efficiency of that combat style?

I played around 70-80 hours in Nioh and still couldn't craft a weapon that I saw in a youtube video. At one point I just gave up and completed the whole game with that bluish purple katana. I don't remember what it's called. Also Nioh was way too overwhelming for me. Too many skills, spells and what not. Even now if I decide to play nioh, I have to watch a beginner's guide on youtube.

Always salvage. You can sell the jewelry fragments from salvaged items for much more than you would make from selling the item flat, while also acquiring upgrade materials and new enchants if available.

Came here to say this lol. Once I found out each jewel fragment sold for 1000 I immediately sold all 9999 of my fragments and now I just don’t have money issues anymore. Always salvage. Definitely not like nioh where you have to do money farms.

I haven't really seen anyone mention this, but some slots on weapons are "worth more," like if you want to put Damage Dealt on one of your weapon's three slots, you may find one slot will give you +2.1%, one will give +2.3% and one will give +2.5%. I don't think the game says anything about this and I'm not sure if you can get multiple "tier 3" slots on a single weapon, but it's useful info for prioritizing the stats you really want on whatever weapon you're building out.

Really great guide as always Cowboy! The weapon scaling thing was throwing me because in previous team ninja games a specific weapon type would have set scaling, so switchglaive was your mage weapon as an example. But in wo long I've been finding spears with different scaling so it confused me a bit. So far I love the QoL changes brought forward from their previous games, I love team ninja for that. Like they really seem to grt player feedback and are happy to try new things but change it if it doesn't work. Lots of exciting things to come for wo long too!

Another easy way to get a tiger seal is to enter mission 2 and grab the tiger seal on the path shortly after the spawn point, leave the mission, and repeat.

Regarding the followers, maybe you did not notice yet or you mentioned it and i missed it, but there is also the available mechanic of cheering them up so that they perform an attack by using r1+up dpad

I like the way we can navigate equipment in Nioh 1 & 2 better than in Wo Long. No need to go through every single one of them just by pressing the left or right directional pad. Now for Wo Long just only up or down which gives me a strange feeling. 🤣

Don't sell weapons and armor directly. Instead salvage everything and sell Jewel Fragments - that will give you much more coppers. Which might be an oversight from Team Ninja, so use it until it's fixed.

Your videos are the best. I’m here from playing Nioh 2 recently. Even though Wo Long is like Nioh Lite I’m still having heaps of fun with the combat. The companions are so dumb though, the AI is really bad. I’ve been not using them sometimes but I don’t want to gimp myself either

I'm trying to decide if the game is worth buying. Anyone that has good things to say about this one, I'm a long time Kings Field, demon souls, dark souls, bloodbourne, nioh 1 and 2, elden ring player, my favorite type of games to play (Didn't like Sekiro) I've heard Wo Long has a lot of flaws on the PC version. Any and all advice on if it is worth a buy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you don't really like sekiro, this may not be for you depending on why you don't like sekiro. Its simplier and pretty easy compared to Nioh 1 and 2. Play on console, pc port is having some trouble if you decide to get it. There isn't like command lists or especially customizable moves. The game is very fun though. Succeeds at making you feel like a badass. If you haven't already, play the demo first. If you don't like the vibes, probably won't be fun.

Cups arent actually hard to find since u can replay battlefields and get them from certain chests 100% garunteed so ive already maxed all my Allys and havent beat the first playthru yet. U just start the battlefield run to the chest open it then go to a battleflag and travel to the same battlefield to reset the chest and rinse and repeat

The blacksmithing system is so much easier now. Judging by how weapons don't have lvls anymore, does that mean if you somehow lucked out at a high rarity weapon early on you're safe to invest heavily into it without fear of being outclassed immediately in the next zone?

Yep ideally you want your ideal weapon at 4 stars to support the most embedments even if initially it has garbage rolls. Not seen a way to swap martial arts on them so another albeit lesser consideration unless it's the focal point of your build. If it doesn't exist I hope they add the ability to swap around them as well.

I really can’t find any info on this, so does anyone know the value of the secondary/tertiary attribute on weapon scaling? For example, Sun Ce’s Dual Halberds scales primarily with fire, secondary with earth, and tertiary with wood. So, do I only need to focus on fire to see damage return? Or, do I also need to put points in earth? Could I instead put points in wood (as opposed to earth) as my secondary stat, and still see a similar return?

Despite already knowing most of this from Nioh 2, I still learned what the different shapes for affixes actually mean lol. I had no idea. Also, can someone confirm; single-use affixes can be added and removed an infinite amount of times without being lost, right? I have move my agility damage bonus one around a few times and not lost it, but would rather not mess about if it is at risk of RNG eating it.

Lu Bei Swords work with wood but are best with Water. I think someone messed up.

This has very little to do with builds, but I do wish they used a similar button layout for this as they did with nioh 2, R2 and up could change melee weapons, R2 and down would change range, and R2 and left or right could cycle through your multiple spell slots to let you use 12 or more spells. I find theres some useful ones in my trees, but sometimes I want a single target spell for the situation and other times an AOE. But then I have to ether tough it out or give up my utility spells that help keep me alive.

I doubt it. Lore wise, Lu Bu is known for two things, being the most feared warrior of the setting and betraying people left and right, not someone you'll want to make oaths with (how the companion system here is defined). Making him available as a companion will require a lot of Alternative Character Interpretation (tm). Edit: I stand corrected. Having gone further in the story, I can see that this game's version of Lu Bu is quite different and could be a viable companion. The reason he can't be is due to what happens to him in the plot.

The stealth stat only effects the range and speed in which enemies will start to notice you. If you run up to an enemy even with 99 water(I have 99 water) the enemy will always notice you almost immediately BUT if you use the blink water magic skill, you can teleport to close the distance without the enemy hearing you,be careful though because there is a set distance you teleport and if your not used to it,You'll teleport right into there sight line.

Can you help me understand the resistance in armour. See you have a fire build and the armour set has no resistance towards water (being your weakness) surely the fire set would want a high value in water and not fire like you've shown? Thanks

I'm using this set because it synergizes with the weapons which scale with fire. TBH you shouldn't worry that much about resistances because whether I have 100 water resist or zero it doesn't matter as long as I deflect the attack, and ultimately with A agility you should be deflecting everything that comes your way.

Does Oath Level only increase after finishing a mission and you get a set amount regardless of what you did in the mission or can I technically just raise the Oath Level to from 0 to 10 just by repeatedly killing a single enemy and resting at a Flag over and over again in a single mission?

I haven't tested it that in depth but just regularly using somebody it goes up pretty fast. There's also the cups which will significantly boost it as you saw
