adi yaf 1).There is literally NO proof of a full size tiger killing and eating a full size brown bear. Maybe cubs, but brown bears have also killed tiger cubs as well, so that doesn't prove anything. 2). Asiatic black bears are small, even smaller than american black bears, with big males only being about 300 pounds. Not much of a feat to be honest. 3). There's a couple of good reasons why a bear would defeat any big cat. For on thing, they have an excellent defense in thier fur and the fat they have. Grizzly bears are notorious for being shot with high powered rifles that would have killed any big cat and just shrugging it off. Grizzly bears are also immensly strong, being able to tear cars apart in thier search for food. Hell, one swipe of a grizzlys paw have been known to completely decapitate moose. (It's also been stated by scientists that a grizzly bear swipe has enough force to kill a lion, sorry to burst your bubble.) In summary, you are full of shit.

This makes me question why these creatures were the inspiration for cuddly teddy bears. I mean, they weigh over 400 pounds, have claws the length of chopsticks, and can run up to 35 mph; and to top it all off, can crush you head into mush with a bite force of 975 psi despite hibernating for the majority of the year. Why did evolution have to go so hard maxing out all it's stats?
@rofyle3 жыл бұрын
They weren't the inspiration for the teddy bear. Teddy Roosevelt was the inspiration. He made sport of killing bears (and lions, and tigers, and elephants, and zebras, and alligators, and pumas, and rhinos, and hippos, and just about everything else that walked or crawled on four legs). That is why a bear was chosen to represent him. Because he enjoyed killing nature. Reflect on that the next time you hug your teddy.
@garrynitbolshevics55803 жыл бұрын
The problem is that you are thinking of adult bears. Bear cubs actually closely resemble teddy bears.
@garrynitbolshevics55803 жыл бұрын
@@rofyle Well that is also wrong, stuffed toy bears predate Teddy Roosevelt, The "teddy bear" name became synonymous with the stuffed toy bear, because toy bears were first mass-produced during the time of Roosevelt, so his name was used for marketing and the name stuck. Also just in case you have forgotten, animals hunt and eat each other.............. If you hate Roosevelt you should also hate the animals he killed.
@miso6893 жыл бұрын
In prehistoric times, bears were kind of taboo animal. Not only were they powerful, but they could walk on their hind legs like humans, so many tribes considered them sacred and even ancestors of humans. In indo-european cultures, name for bear is basically just nickname. True name of bear could not be spoken. Thus english bear is mre like "the brown one", slavic medved means "the one who knows where mead is" and so on. True name of bears is forgotten in past.

Female bears and male bears fight each other very differently. It's interesting to compare and contrast. Also, it's very rare that male dueling results in death; the defeated usually just concedes the area to the other and lives to fight another day. Unlike when big cats cross each other or are trying to take over an area - one almost certainly ends up dead or wounded in a way that might as well be death.

Wow!!! that' was quick!!! how deceiving these animals are. They go around all slow and stuff and in a second they get as quick as a cat. Scary shit.
@jasoncarswell74587 жыл бұрын
Ya, most of the predators we think of as really lumbering slow monsters are actually just optimized for fast bursts of explosive energy at short distances. Crocodiles, bears, hippos, gorillas, etc. Within that distance the huge animal is still much faster than a human can run away. Average Joe jogs at around 10mph, so I figure if he was getting chased by a bear he could easily pull 15-17mph for a hundred yards or so, but a grizzly will easily do 25-30mph at the same distance despite weighing 6 times as much. Reminds me of one of those 300lb American football linemen, deceptively large but with muscles optimized for the sudden 100% sudden charge, all fast twitch muscle instead of slow twitch. Hippos are also famous for charging faster than a human can run despite being ridiculously poorly proportioned for land mobility, with their tiny stubby legs and big fat buoy of a body; there's still more than enough adrenaline and fast-twitch muscle to get the job done in an emergency.
@kaseryn5 жыл бұрын
So true. It's spooky how sneaky all these top predators are when sizing up prey or competition. Feigning seeming disinterest until the split second your head is in its jaws. Theres a video here somewhere of a brown bear taking a moose or elk by a stream. Obvs not wanting to meet it horns first it takes a seemingly completely disinterested wander in the area around without ever seeming to even look at the animal.. that is until it had manouvered itself into a decent attack position.
@alantaylor66915 жыл бұрын
@@jasoncarswell7458 The crazy thing about brown bears though is that even though they're designed to be incredibly explosive, they also do have great endurance as well and can run down fast prey over long distances. Different to a linebacker which has explosive speed but gets puffed after 30 seconds. The brown bear will keep up a good gallop over cross country distances!

Ok, yesterday i was watching a YT channel of a guy who welcomes a Female bear and her cubs, she is called Simone. I always read comments saying "Don't pet the bear" to everyone in the section, but i never really got why not if Simone (a black bear) is so comfortable around Patrick... to the point of knowing him since She herself was a cub and now trusts him to present her cubs to him at his own "territory". Even tho she seems to trust him and all, i always wondered why Patrick would be so friendly yet distant to the point of not even petting her once... Now i get it. The SPEED of the attack between these 2 was INCREDIBLE. I was not aware Bears were this Fast. Patrick is a wise man.
