I am glad that you are enjoying your Timewave ANC-4. I recently picked up a W6LVP Magnetic Loop a few weeks ago and put it up about 20 ft on a Channel Master rotator and use it as my receive antenna on my ham station while using a 132 ft Carolina Windom antenna for transmit. I really have found a tremendous difference in noise after going to a loop. I also have a Timewave ANC-4 Noise reducing device that works great in combination with either antenna when fighting noise that is not nulled out by the loop because I am using the loop at times to pick between stations in different locations on the ham bands and also BCB stations. I have a 12 ft noise dipole at 3 ft above the ground for the ANC-4 that I placed right under my electrical power line pole. The combination of a loop and the ANC-4 has allowed me to enjoy listening to Shortwave like back in the 50s and 60s before all of the electrical environment issues we face today. 73s WD9GNG

Loops are nice in conjunction with the QRM Eliminator, instead of only being able do deal with one QRM source (multiple if you're lucky) you can easily deal with multiple QRM sources, the loop can null out one while maintain the broadcast signal strength, but still picks up the second QRM source and have the QRM Eliminator deal with the second noise source.

Great Job I have a neighbours plasma TV destroying HF i have got the MFJ 1026 but find it difficult to null out the noise because of restricted space for the noise antenna .I will try anything to get this terrible un due interference away as our regulators Ofcom refuse to do anything about plasma tv unless they are interfering with vital services so much for regulating in the UK .i think they are deliberately allowing devices to interfere as they would like our spectrum if its unusable most hams will give up and so there plan is working!!. Great video thanks for posting

+John Gulliver I also had the MFJ 1026. It worked but it was a lot of work adjusting it every time. The MFJ has an additional control for the gain of the main antenna. This is not really neccessary but it complicates the adjustment. The ANC 4 is much easier and faster to adjust. Most important though is your noise antenna. I also experimented with that a lot. If you only suffer from one noise source, try to put the noise antenna as close to the source as possible. I suffer from various noise sources. Therefore all my antenna's can be used as receive antenna, but also can be used as the noise source when another antenna is used for RX. Most of the time this works. Only for noise sources which are relatively far away this concept does not work.

But how does it effect or degrade amateur signals?

+John AdamsI use the ANC-4 to get rid of noise. By that I mean noise that is fatiguing to listen to or noise that masks up the signal. When properly adjusted the impact on the wanted signals is only small and there is no degradation except for some attenuation. I therefore added the amplifier. Signals are better readable. Once properly adjusted on a band, I seldom have to correct the settings when moving around the band. Only when you turn the antenna, you have to adjust again.

I do not know what caused the QRM. I have lots of different QRM. Finding out what the causes are would be a dayjob. Using the ANC makes that I do not have to find out what causes the QRM. But I know it is not coming from my own home.
