My favorite college basketball team of all time FLYING ILLINI

Also great to see coach Jimmy Collins there. He was the architect of this roster, recruiting the fertile Chicago area. Could've been named Illini head coach in '96 when Lou departed. But he went on to UIC where he turned that program completely around, taking them to multiple NCAA and NIT tourneys for the first time.

Should have been the next coach

Had the pleasure of growing up in the state during this Flyin' Illini era AND the Air Jordan dynasty. What time for basketball in Illinois. Basically re-invented the sport with their style of play and style of shorts.

It would have been fun to see Nick Anderson there as well.

What a fantastic team. Yes, missed seeing Nick Anderson with them all. I do believe the top of the Assembly Hall (SFC) would have blown off! :D Would have been great to see the Chief perform, also. But great to see as many as we did. Lou is looking pretty dang good, also.

Nick Anderson is an announcer for the Orlando Magic and couldn't make it to Champaign for the celebration.

How about a tribute to the Peoria Manual players who led the Illini to the Final Four. If they would have won it would have meant that Peoria Manual High School won the NCAA championship.
