Great advice, hot bath 104-105 degrees for 10 min rounds is great. Compared to exercise for sweat production, it's not burning energy that will be needed 24 hours later. No longer than 10 minutes, have a buddy with you. (nobody wants to pass out and drown in thier tub).

See Firas Zahabi. It was either him or GSP himself who broke down their strategy in simplest terms(I think Firas on his podcast with Joe Rogan) establish a strong jab early on and then feint with it to always keep your opponent guessing. With GSP he also has the takedowns so he would feint with the jab and/or go for a takedown or feint one to always keep his opponent off guard and on the defensive... which when you can’t feint striking and grappling.. ultimately you control everything

I've heard 7% to keep enough water on your brain to keep your risk of concussion, or permanent damage down. They're starting to see that smaller guys are much more sensitive to this effect. Most of the time, when someone gets a brain injury, it's because they cut too much weight. From what I understand, your brain takes a while longer to fully rehydrate compared to your body's muscle, skin, etc. I've heard for 150lbs and up, 10% is ok. But, once you start getting well under that, you should try to be closer to 7-8%. Even less for featherweight division. Then, it's like 5-6% safely. It's also highly individual. One person who cuts 10% might feel fine. Whereas someone else of the same exact weight and composition can't even go that far without passing out or causing lasting harm to themselves. I'd also make one small correction on drinking 2 gallons of water, 2 days in a row. If you are starting from a point of low electrolytes, that could make you hypernatremic. Which is a fancy word for drinking too much water and flushing out all of your salt/electrolytes. You can have seizures and die from that. Don't want someone thinking that they are having seizure from cutting weight when it could just as easily be hypernatremia from drinking that much water. If you had a good diet before hand, sure. But, you could easily get into trouble doing that if you were already defecient.

Okay, so for the people that don't understand and ask questions like "How are we gonna lose water weight if we drink more water?" or something similar to that, let me explain. So, you probably carry water weight because you don't get enough water. You body goes into "panic" mode when you don't get enough water so it stores the water. So when you drink more water, the body will tell itself "okay, you've got your water" and will release the stored water ( AKA taking a piss ) and you'll lose the water weight. Get it? Got it? Good. :)

@AWolf-gq2vu4 жыл бұрын
Unless you wanna kill your body to make featherweight, than yeah, lightweight. Also keep in mind that some guys are not really six foot, but prolly more like 5’10” or 5’11”. Ultimately you should do some more research and really take some time to think about the risks you’re willing to take with dehydration which by itself is dangerous, but also getting punched in the face while dehydrated after the weight cut puts you at risk for concussions even more.
