nice tips shane. this tips work when you already get the right mechanics of the lower body (waist, hip, and foot). really adds power to the kick
@triplesixphonk35025 жыл бұрын
Appreciate this video a lot. Ive been working on my roundhouse kicks & trying to unlock the mechanics to get the motion in naturally has been a bit of a challenge but Im improving with practice. Do you think you can make a video for improving lead roundhouse kicks & the muay thai consecutive kicks with the same leg like they do on the pads. Would be dope!
@combatsportsaddict23345 жыл бұрын
those consecutive same leg kicks aren't that hard just try it i like doing them on a heavy bag lead roundhouses are tricky for more power u need to switch ur stance which i guess doesn't make it a lead kick anymore but whatever but u could also just lift the knee high and snap it out for less power but more speed but the latter is more of a karate style type of kick

Hey Shane I love you videos I have been doing boxing for a half a year and watching your videos has given me an interest in muay thai. Lucky for me the muay thai gym is shared with my boxing gym and I was thinking of trying it out in early July or late April. My problem is I am going to have to tell my coach that I will be gone for a while but for some reason I feel guilty even though my coach has not put any pressure on me. Thanks man I love your videos they really help me out!

I would agree with that. There's no need to drop your arm to your hip. It just opens up your head to your opponent's kick for a split second.
@miguelbermudez54265 жыл бұрын
I agree. I keep both arms up because a split second is what one needs to punch and I need a quick defense in case. Swinging the arm will leave you open.

Great video, lots of details and great points as usual!!! Can you do a video on unattached knee strikes and those hand/ guard positions It seems like it should be similar but I have always had trouble landing, middle range knee strikes. Or where the heck my hands should be, always feels off balance. Longer distance jumping knees, never been a problem and kicks from the same distance, are my bread and butter. For some reason those knees never seem to land, unless I'm attached or countering. Thanks

I was always taught in karate to keep your arms close to your body as possible and to not move them while performing the kick.
Here's another possibility: Years ago, I used to study Hapkido, which also includes a fair amount of Korean-style kicking. Towards the end of my training, after I'd been kicking for years, they advised me to adopt an unorthodox technique to suit my frame (I'm 6'1" and long in the torso): holding my rear hand OUT for balance. It seemed to work, but what do you have to say?

Hey dude. I just found you're channel and I already love it. A lot of really good tips and advice. I've been watching you're street fight vids mostly. Let me explain the situation. I'm not a strong or fast guy, hell I'm not even much of a fighter. But recently people I've been having issues with for years are starting to get really aggressive and hostile. A few of them actually jumped my brother yesterday and kicked his ass. I know I don't have much of a better chance at kicking their ass but I want to be ready. Do you( or anyone else) have any tips for when you're jumped or otherwise ambushed? And any tips for defense against a group of attackers? They usually gang up with 2 or three people. Thanks in advance and thanks for posting great content. Stay safe and fight strong.

Can you make a video how to switch your feet when you want to kick
@jorgenolsson40835 жыл бұрын
When showing the power difference between swinging arms and not, you do two different kicks, the swing variant is a proper roundhouse kick with hip leading all the way, the high guard variant is a snappy round kick with very little hip behindi t. So the comparison is not fair. You can swing the hip as far with highguard too so do that when comparing power, so it is the same type of kick and fairly comparable by being able to discern if you can accelerate the hip more with the swinging motion and hence get a stronger kick.

I think of the arm swing as an extension of the shoulders. Sylvie Von Duuglas-Ittu wrote an article detailing the turn of the shoulders particularly for the leg kick. I incorporated this into my own technique and saw great improvement in the kick overall. Turning your rear shoulder forward helps achieve the arm positioning that Shane talks about in this. It may work for some and for others it may not. More so than anything, relaxation is key! The technique will be poor if you're tense
