Manor Lords continues and the brave Cupboardian Militia get involved in their first battle! It's a bit stabby.
After working out exactly how to deploy our Militia properly we venture across the map to deal with some brigands (not bandits!). After a bit of a trek we assume our positions and a mighty battle ensues! Blood is spilled, people fall, but who is the eventual winner? Watch and find out!
Back in Cupboardia things tick over quite nicely. Our new stone gatherers collect much stone, our new foresters plant trees and our new ox sort of glitches out a bit but that's fine...
Also we upgrade our storehouse, we chop many planks and we try (and fail, spectacularly) to build a Manor. Bother!
NOTE: This is an Early Access version of the game.

Manor Lords is a strategy game that allows you to experience the life of a medieval lord. Grow your starting village into a bustling city, manage resources and production chains, and expand your lands through conquest.
Inspired by the art and architecture of late 14th century Franconia, Manor Lords prioritizes historical accuracy wherever possible, using it to inform gameplay mechanics and visuals alike. Common medieval tropes are avoided in favor of historical accuracy, in order to make the world feel more authentic, colorful, and believable.
Manor Lords provides a gridless city-building experience with full freedom of placement and rotation. Building mechanics are inspired by the growth of real medieval towns and villages, where major trade routes and the landscape influenced how settlements shaped and developed.
Spreading outward from a central marketplace, build your residential, commercial, and industrial districts following the natural lay of the land. Establish farms based on soil fertility, position hunting grounds according to animal populations, and ensure access to adequate resource deposits and forests to provide the raw materials needed for growth.
Assign areas for housing and watch your residents build their homes in accordance with the historical burgage plot system. Each region will be subdivided based on your roads and the allotted space, and homes will scale accordingly.
From boots to barley and hides to honey, Manor Lords features a great variety of goods fitting of the era. Materials need to be transported and processed into finished products through production chains, and you must balance the basic needs of your people against the desire to produce luxury items to ensure happiness, manufacture trade goods for export, or forge arms and armor to aid in your conquests.
Resources are littered across the map, encouraging you to expand and establish multiple specialized settlements. Extract valuable ores from your mining colonies, while villages devoted to agriculture, herding, or hunting supply the grains and meats needed to feed your growing population.
Train a retinue of skilled warriors to fight battles alongside the levies you raise from the town militia. At times these soldiers will be needed to crush rebellions or suppress banditry, and at other times you will lead your men into battle to conquer or defend territory. When needed, mercenaries are a costly option to bolster your ranks.
A robust diplomacy system will allow you to communicate with other lords, using influence or threats to sway their actions. These competing lords have their own goals and will seek you out as well, and your response to their offers or insults can mean the difference between war and peace.

There's a rumor that the save files of this version will not work after the game comes out on the 26th. If that's true, I really hope you start afresh and "continue' this series. Whatever you decide, keep up the good work, you are such a delight to watch in all your videos.

You had me at "Fighty fighty Stabby Stabby!" 10:40 Technically, no. A trader will, occasionally come by to see what they can buy and pay you at trade points or the house. Setting up an established import or export guarantees they come by for that buy or sell. Setting up a FULL trade route means you buy and sell said commodity allowing you to set up other commodity trades that can *only* be done if you have a full trade route When trading you need a family there. Having a horse means the families do not draw stuff by hand to the trading points and it is a lot faster. Apologies if any of my prior posts on this were confusing. (Assign horses in the trading post area.) Grats in the battle make bows in your arbitrage asap! GL on your Manor house!

Congrats on your first battle victory! Nice episode - lots of progress. I think, if you look at your trading post, there is a tab on the end that has something to do with "livestock"? (edit: also if you use your scroll button when setting down your logging area, it can enlarge, or minimize the area your loggers are allowed to chop trees. Plus...LOL the sawpit has a bug ie, an annoying popup that says It's full whenever a log is delivered. Of course it IS full and will be EVERY time a log is delivered. I believe they are working on it.)

Smart de-fence there, it's guaranteed to confuse the enemy :) However, muddling through? Nope, this look organized, successful and all word non-compatible with muddling :o

Glad you managed to work out how to take out the bandits. Hope you work out at some point on how to get the horse to work at the trading. I cant see how to do it. 🤷‍♀️

you can make the back yards of the Burgess plots much longer than that-it only helps with veggie gardens though-they can get more output with longer yards...-but I don't think it helps with chickens or goats. (it could, but the tool tip doesn't say either way except on veggie plots) The smaller yards seem to be better for artisan plots like a weaponsmith or brewery.

You can make a huge plot with just the house, add on and extension and run some market garden size vege patches
@joshuacr
@joshuacr Ай бұрын
@@danielleoliver1734 This. the extension will also assign the families to tend the garden.

This. if it's not food production, no need to make the lots narrow. Also, seems to be a problem with orchard production. Apples are raised, but not distributed.

I believe you can increase/decrease the working areas 😊 also maybe assign an ox to the farmhouse to help speed up work on the fields
@TheGeekCupboard
@TheGeekCupboard Ай бұрын
An ox on the fields requires a special improvement point thing, which we don't have right now. I do find that a bit odd because surely that's a fairly standard farming technique but no, in Manor Lords you need to upgrade to have ox ploughs!

You can sell your horse, if you build the livestock trading post. You can also buy them there.

I’m pretty sure there is a way to exclude an area from the logging, like a protective bubble if you have berries or hunting grounds

If you are looking it at using trade routes quite a bit you pretty much need to use your development points to lower the cost of establishing trade routes to a fixed cost of 25 ore else the cost snowballs really fast. You do only get 6 development points per region though, and they don’t carry over if you set up in another region, you start a new tech tree

Not sure it's the right niche but if anyone's interested in Medieval battle tactics as a historical background for the game I strongly recommend Schwerpunkt's relative playlists. Videogames should use historians more for their advice
