Great video. I have a squeaking and I think it’s the idler pulley but I’ll go ahead since I am in the area and replace the idler and tensioner. Thanks for helping us out - the biggest part of the job is figuring out how to get to the parts that need to be replaced. Torque Info from Haynes: idler sprocket bolt - 24 foot pounds / belt tensioner bolt - 20 foot pounds.

Space it so tight for the 1/2" ratchet to loosen the tensioner to install the belt after trial and error figured out that if you use a big pair of channellocs from the tensioner to the crankshaft pulley you can compress the tensioner enough to install the belt at the AC compressor pulley. Hope that helps you guys out

In my '97 caravan sport 3.3 the idler and tensioner wheels are the same size. Be sure for the tensioner getting the tensioner tool. Available at Harbor... @14.00$. much cheaper then the auto parts places are asking. the tool saves so many headaches. good luck. p.s. re- to give the belt slack pull the tool toward you, its the way the tensioner device is designed..

I had a pulley lile that on my 97 plymouth voyager. When it got wet it kept slipping off. So i got the pulley with a rim on both sides so it won't slip off for ONLY a few bux more.... There was a kinda shield underneath that prevented the belt to get wet, but it got ripped off by a Walmart curb... Thanks Walmart, you owe me

My tensioner was stuck. Like an idiot, I grabbed a hammer and tapped on it. Well, it came off, but the locking pin remained inside the block. If yours gets stuck, leave it. Just change out the idler/pulley.
@miatgrad763 жыл бұрын
You can easily just put a crescent wrench on the big square boss opposite of the half inch square opening in the tensioner. Much easier to get at

I noticed that the Idler Pulley Bushing had shifted directly after you had tightened it down.

Did the noise sounded like if was coming from the fan belt? Because I spilled some anti freeze on my belt when i installed thermostat and been squeaking every sense or is there a way to check the pulley ?
@rictus72225 жыл бұрын
I got a noise coming from my engine sounds like power steering but it's not and people have said it might be the tensioner does this make sense a heavy loud screeching noise continuous as you drive down the road and that Park

Hey so at 17 seconds your hand is right below 3 bolts in some sort of bracket there. Would you happen to know what they are and how they would break?? Just opened my van to see that they were broken..

Those three bolts fasten the passenger side engine mount to the front frame rail. They can break if the vehicle has been in an accident or driven over something that's caused a strong shock. Don't drive the van and get them replaced ASAP. If the engine mount itself is damaged it must also be replaced.
