Brilliant! After seeing this why would any surgeon use those plain wires that cut through the tissue and leave twisted sharp ends? And I saw in the other video demo that shows how well these straps withstand the stretching force postoperatively. I hope all Thoracic Surgeons see it; and start using it. Chandra Kumar MD

This may seem like a dumb comment but it seems like the video indicates that the straps are removed at a later date? If so, how does that work since the wound is healed?

The device(s) remain in situ after the sternum and skin have healed. However, if necessary, they are easily explanted if necessary (such as in the event of infection), during a minimally invasive surgical procedure involving incisions in the overlying tissue. I am not a thoracic surgeon and I do not play one on TV, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express.
