Yo! How do you take care of your hands and wrists? I’ve been getting pain in my wrists when modeling recently. Is it my mouse? Which do you use? How long do you go before taking breaks? How long do you take breaks? I’m reading a book on repetitive strain injuries at the moment. Hope all is well.

i had this when i was gaming a lot and the reason was my mouse was too small for my hand. it might be that your mouse is too small or too big for your hand (had that problem with using iphone 7 plus in the past too), or just got a weird shape like these gaming transformer mouses. if i was you i would just go to a multimedia store and check out their mouses and put your hand on it and see with which one you got a comfortable loose grip. i tried vertical mouse too, because it ultimately relaxes your wrist in a natural position but i found that it's harder to click quick and precisely with them for me personally.

I don't really have this problem but the main thing I would recommend is working in hour-long intervals. It's extremely important to stand up and walk around every hour or so just for your spine health. Gives you an opportunity to stretch and move hands and wrists too. I used to use a Logitech MX Master 3 and a Herman Miller Aeron chair but I've moved to Miami and have been fully off a MacBook and trackpad. Definitely far from the most ergonomic/healthy setup but being able to stand up and stretch a lot is a major factor

I am still in the cold dm-ing phase but also have done some paid work here and there. Should I have a website with a basic breakdown of the costs or just leave it as a case by case basis?

Don't overthink it! If you do a good job they'll probably refer you to others (if they know someone who needs it) without you asking.

Hey, I was wondering how you manage payment with the clients to avoid getting scammed, Like what had happened to you with all those ugly character designs. Do you maybe take a 50% upfront fee?

Sorry it's feeling hard, I highly recommend easing yourself into freelancing. It's a game of luck at first and going all in is just going to stress you out and put you in a state of scarcity. Probably not what you want to hear but starting with a regular job and easing your way in is probably best

yeah, i literally hate companies who buying from other countries not cause somebody have more talent, but cause they wanna buy the same quality cheaper...just for the record: we don't need less money for life and work then US citizens, we need exactly the same amount and sometimes even more (for example, Windows in US can cost $139, but in Moldova the same Windows version cost $239)...we simply just buy less or don't buy, or buy a shtty analogs, which don't work...we don't need less money for medicine, for example, yes, we have cheap medicine, but quality of it is sck; if u want good treatment, u go to the central Europe and pay exactly the same money as US person ...and as a graphic designer and 3d artist I have to buy all stuff for work (software, PC components) from US and EU companies, cause only they make it, and pay for it more money then US person (especially for PC: delivery + additional taxes)....yeah, here are a lot of people, who make work for low price, but they simply struggling with money, don't count all they needs (one day freelancer just can disappear cause of snowball effect of all accumulated problems) and use pirate stuff (btw, the companies really wanna get problems with law in future, discount really worth it)

smoke weed. joke. 5-10 min breaks every hour, do pushups, yoga or whatever, then back to work.

Motivation will come and go, you will experience waves of enthusiasm and drive and other times you will probably feel down and discouraged. This is all part of it. Just remember that if you're showing up every day and putting in conscious effort, you will be okay!

How much would you charge for 3D renders (render passes) that are going to be used for Ps Templates? 6-8K res. 3 passes each+alpha channels. Blender+Marvelous Designer workflow. Client is from the US. Thanks.

Totally depends on the complexity of the design itself but for a template I would make it as user friendly as possible and try to get at least $1k for it. I don't like starting projects for less than that these days.

@@renderer Thanks. At least $1k.. i like the sound of that. About the complexity, since it's a template it has to be crystal clear and sharp, well lit from all angles, aesthetic looking folds/wrinkles - not too strong. i make masks for the friqqin stitches on a jersey, basically spoon-feeding it to the client... I was charging ~$450. good to know i can go higher. Thanks again. Cheers!
