Holy cow the worst fall and greatest recovery has to go to Midori Ito at 12:01. She literally falls outside the rink, and gets right back into the rink without missing a beat. Awe-inspiring.

I have such respect for these guys. I grew up in Colorado and went ice skating all year long. About 2/3 on outdoor lakes. I was very good, but the things these guys and gals do is simply Outstanding IMO. 🌹❤️💖 Their worst days are others best ever day. 💖

6:13 Fall was majestic. It wasn't an abrupt slam in no way, she glided beautifully, it was sliding into a halt and moving to stand up that slightly ruined it. (Edit) 10:07 Fall was beautiful as he did not budge any part of his body, he simply continued in the flow he had fallen in. He was quick and swift and had little contact against the ice. (Edit) 11:27 The fall was immaculate, her arms were not jerked back. She smoothy twisted into a fall and slid with her legs in place before spinning around to stand, and although she abruptly stood up so stiffly ruining her fall she quickly skated back into action.

Midori's crash is and forever will be iconic. Also, do not forget that she had already been injured in a crush with another skater during the warm-up which is shown at 11:22. And most importantly - her technique was flawless, unlike many other skaters' depicted here (no offense) who had already fallen down before they hit the wall. The Lutz was absolutely perfect, she just made that combination too close to the barrier, that is why she flipped.

Much of this would be improved by not putting jumps so close to the barriers. If you fall there, you crash.

This sport is very tough and dangerous for all especially when the woman get tossed high up in the air and fall, let alone land on one leg. There's no stopping just keep it going pain and all. Ice is ice (ouch) but those walls should at least be made of rubber cushion so when they hit they dont break their necks. Its like a car crash on impact. Hip, spine, knee, etc. injuries and pain later in life.

Hitting ice is can be horrific. I hit the ice once, broke my tailbone, and caused a blood clot in my back. I dont know how the skaters do it. They are traveling at high speeds. Omgosh

Потому что это выступление, а не помощь девушкам. Их задача - выступить максимально чисто. Поэтому в большинстве случаев после борта они вскакивают и продолжают кататься. Если партнер все бросит и будет поднимать партнершу, а не продолжать катать- программу они сорвут полностью

Партнер должен поддерживать ритм выступления. Упавшему это помогает догнать и вклиниться в продолжение программы. Иначе снимут оценку не только за технику, но и за компоненты. К сожалению. Вежливость и галантность после проката. Хотя могут и убить за ошибку😅.

I think that singles, and especially doubles skaters, the women should have to wear some kind of mandatory protective band around the forehead area, for protection from injury reasons.That way, the 8 to 10 foot fall to the ground wouldn't be "as" bad.Get past what it might look like, we need to protect these vulnerable high quality athletes from all countries. Design it to be flesh tone to the skater, and try it out.Make it normal to see.I know parents would rest a little bit better in the stands.😮😮😮
