They brought out a wheelchair of all things. If she has an ankle injury the wheelchair might be the worst option, she would be putting pressure on the injury. She should have had a gurney to take her off. Did they even have an EMT available?

I feel her despair. I did gymnastics and ballet for quite awhile, and I loved it, but I had an accident that resulted in a devastating knee injury (bucket-handle meniscus tear, MCL and LCL tears, and needed surgical repairs). I couldn't come back from that; been almost 15 years, and I have chronic dislocations, pain and weakness. Some injuries you just don't come back from, and you know that as an athlete. The sorrow of knowing all your work could be gone, it's heartbreaking.
@Adara007

I'm so sorry you went through that. I definitely relate. Knee injuries, particularly where the meniscii are badly torn with issues involving depletion of cartilage, are among the most devastating for dancers, gymnasts, and athletes generally. Some accidents cause permanent damage and end athletic careers in an instant.

"@karencalderwood9058" These young athletes over train but also there are just people who are more prone to injuries than others. I have never been a competitive level athlete but used to train to participate in foot races and have trained to run a marathon. I developed arthritis and the orthopedic doctor told me that arthritis is genetic and nothing I did or didn't do caused it. There are people who are very physically active and never develop arthritis and there are couch potatoes who never develop arthritis. And alternately there are physically active people who develop arthritis and also couch potatoes who develop arthritis. I have had double hip replacement and may need double knee and double shoulder replacement.

@@kim267 Yes, but that does not mean she will win the second set, she was behind 40-15 in the third game of the second set, so technically 2-1. She lost the first set 7-6. She has a history of faking injuries and is quite a drama queen. If the injury is serious then she will be out for at least 5-6 months recovering if she plays in the French Open then she's faking it, again.

@@CaptainNippon, I disagree. Being behind 15-40 doesn't mean the game is over. Been there many times to turn it around. Bianca's turned it around quite a few times. You may think she's a drama queen but that doesn't mean she's not injured. People feel pain in different degrees. When my daughter was a toddler she could do a face plant onto a coffee table and not say boo but my son would scream bloody murder about a paper cut. We all feel pain differently. Unless you are her doctor you can't make that call.

@@kim267 You're delusional and you're making up false narratives. She lost the first set and the second set was going to be 2-1. She hasn't won a tournament since the US Open, which means she has lost her match to someone at every tournament she played in. You're making it sound like she was going to win or something. Let's find out if she can play at the french open in 6 weeks. If this injury is serious, no way she'll be ready to play in 6 weeks unless she fakes her injury and put on a show for everyone to see. You don't cry like that and all of a certain you're good to go for the French Open.

Nobody can truly know what people are going through, let alone professional athletes. These are individuals who strive for this dream and continuously work harder and harder to feel as healthy and strong as possible. Although, there are moments where injuries occur when you least expect them. It's frustrating no doubt to have to deal with it on a consistent basis. These types of moments is what is only helping create the most magical and memorable of comeback stories. Bianca has dealt with a lot and who knows what else she is going through but i truly wish the best for her and her family. Rooting Bianca on with my whole heart. I fully agree, her opponent getting ice made me tear up even more. Then the hug. Idk maybe that's all standard professional sportsmanship, but I don't think so. Not everyone physically can stand by witnessing someone in serious pain. Some of us are empathic and feel pain in that situation. Also known as the reason I never became a paramedic or nurse or doctor. I can and do still help and do a fine job, but if it were my career it would take way too much out of me. So it did mean a lot that she stayed and hugged.

What exactly do you think "better medical staff" was going to do for her? And who would these better medical staff people be? Certified Athletic trainers know what they are doing. The athlete was clearly aware that she damaged her ankle , I don't know her history but she appears to be reacting to a reinjury or a similar injury from her past and she knows it's probably going to involve surgery and close to a year of rehab. That's an emotional reaction that anyone would have. Within minutes she stops crying and sits up. When she hears the fans cheering for her, again, she cries (I don't blame her). End of the day, the trainer is trying to stabilize the leg and watch for signs of shock. Then it's off to the hospital for xrays, MRI and plans for surgery.

I had a really bad fall in 2012 where I broke my ankle 3 places. I was crying from pain and shock, I was on summer vacation and it was over in a heartbeat. Until you have been in that situation you can't say why someone is upset. If she had injury after injury the poor girl can cry all she wants. She's probably frustrated, mad, sad and in pain. I have had 5 surgeries since that break so I can understand some of what she's feeling.

Tennis is tough on the joints. I know. I played for over 30 years and had both knees replaced, and now I have chronic tennis elbow. My days playing tennis are numbered, and as much as I detest pickleball, I have to join the geezer squad in a new sport. The way these youngsters are playing the game of tennis today is unbelievable. It wasn't even humanly possible back in my days. It's fantastic to watch. My heart goes out to Bianca. Get well soon.

Ummm . . . EXCUSE ME . . . but this video shows NOTHING of s player's injury. Nothing of what or how it happened, and nothing of the injury itself, We see 5'39" of a player lying on the ground crying, AFTER some sort of ankle injury, then being wheeled off the court. Which ankle was injured? How did it happen? This is NOT what I consider "ENTERTAINMENT"!
@Makeupautist
@Makeupautist Ай бұрын
The injury does not have to be visible on the outside. Depending on how sensitive the joints etc. are, you can get injured quickly. I did rhythmic gymnastics myself and unfortunately had to stop because of a lumbar spine injury. You couldn't see the pain from the outside, but it didn't feel good on the inside and, especially when you play tennis, you need very good legs and feet to be able to hit the ball. And you also have to run, and it can often happen that if you run to the left and suddenly to the right, your heels, ankles etc. give way and you tear a tendon.

Now I’ve been reading these comments about this girl and how what happened to her isn’t a big deal. Now think about this, you want to play a sport, maybe tennis, basketball, baseball, or whatever sport you want to play, and think that there are no injuries that go along with the sport you choose to play, but there are. Pain is real people, even I’ve been there with jump rope. I gave myself shin splints from that, and was it painful? Yes it was. I knew it wasn’t the end of the world, but it was painful. So this pain she’s experiencing is REAL and so is the struggle. So quit calling her a drama queen or any other negative name. Be mindful of others

I broke my ankle on court 6 months ago and I still can’t play matches. It still hurts, I still can’t run and I burst into tears everytime I see a player hurt themselves on court. Bianca is not exaggerating, nor is she crying because of the pain; she is crying out of anger. The mental side of this is harder. I had the most succesful surgery, yet the healing takes a year. That’s without playing that is..

I broke my ankle many years ago... slipped and fell on ice. Sure it's painful. Two people helped me up and I said "oh shit that hurts" and I limped around then drove myself home. But I did not cry from pain... I cried after I took my shoe off because I knew I would have to go to hospital, have surgery and be housebound for many weeks with a stupid cast. Bianca got emotional and thought about her tennis career. She was not in agonizing pain like her screams would imply. Take time to heal Bianca, you are still young!

As a guy who has played a lifetime of volleyball, sprained ankles are very common in that sport. Very painful for the first few minutes, but then that pain dulls out. Lots of ice to keep the swelling down, and with the right treatment, a player can be back in a week. Assuming this was indeed an ankle sprain, and not something else.
@PapaScorch22
@PapaScorch22 Жыл бұрын
You clearly haven’t experienced anything above a grade 1 ankle sprain then. I experienced a grade 2 ankle sprain, swelled to the size of a softball and I couldn’t put ANY weight on it for a week, and couldn’t walk pain-free for nearly a month. Serious ankle sprains don’t go away in a week dude. She’s got two torn ligaments as of today. That’s not gonna heal in a week lol.
@Saugaverse
@Saugaverse Жыл бұрын
@@PapaScorch22 what you typed is not quite accurate. If treated correctly, an athlete can be back playing very quickly following a sprain. If not treated at all, sure, it will take over a month to recover from a sprain. In fact, it takes 6 months for a sprain to heal 100%, but that doesn't mean you have to wait that long to go back to playing sports. However, as a professional athlete, I am sure Bianca will have access to the best therapy possible. Hopefully she will be able to compete again competitively in a month.

It also depends on high vs low ankle sprain. High ankle sprains can do major damage and even if properly treated can take weeks or months to heal. I've had several during 50 years of equestrian sports and simply missing a step on a porch! Doc said it is sometimes better to have broken it than deal with the damage to the ligaments that occurs.
