Im so happy Derek Hough helped them choreograph one of the sections. He is probably one of the best young choreographers in the world!!! Way to go Charlie and Meryl!!!

Perfect choice of music for Davis and White. Its like they floated across the ice. Meryl is light as a feather on her feet. Just beautiful performance. I wish they'd post the entire short program. Its well over a year since Sochi. What are they waiting for???

I actually hate who v/m fans are hating on d/w as much as i wanted tessa and scott to win gold, meryl and charlie were just the better team that season. Both teams have something special and are deserving of gold so i don't understand all the hate! This is coming from a v/m fan! Stop hating both teams are great!

Beyond.Galaxies 48 I agree with you. I like V/M but like D/W better. This is coming from a Canadian. You don't have to be American to like Meryl and Charlie. They really were better than Tessa and Scott.

Yes, Virtue and Moir are fabulous HOWEVER Meryl and Charlie had a greater difficulty in their programs which gave them the higher score. Please don't degrade their win, Tessa and Scott were happy for them and we should all be too.

+BloomFairyPixie Perhaps true about the FD, but not about the SD. There is nothing in Meryl and Charlie's SD that is more difficult than Tessa and Scott's SD. Actually Tessa and Scott's SD has more difficult steps and lift. Also, while Meryl and Charlie's SD is really lovely, in my opinion (and not just my), it's not quite as special as Tessa and Scott's. Even many Meryl and Charlie's fans thought that Tessa and Scott were going to win the SD in competitions where the two teams competed against each other, and, again, many admitted that they should have won the SD at least in the Grand Prix Final (where Meryl and Charlie had a mistake on twizzles vs. the completely clean performance from Tessa and Scott), if not at the Olympics where they lost a level compared to Meryl and Charlie (at least seemingly - for instance, Tarasova who was commentating on the Russian TV didn't see any mistake on a key point in their Finnstep sequence, and she usually sees everything). But the choice of the FD was not very successful for Tessa and Scott indeed - they already won the 2010 Olympics with a classical FD, and it's not surprising that judges didn't feel like giving the first place to a comparatively weaker FD in a similar style again (when I say weaker, I don't even mean Tessa and Scott's execution of it, but the program itself - the combination of music, choreography and the slightly unclear theme which was not that great). Meryl and Charlie's FD was more "exciting" and also more difficult/athletic indeed (no that Tessa and Scott could not execute difficulty of a similar level which they had already shown before, but such was the style of their FD that it didn't require overtly acrobatic elements). Still, I was amazed by Tessa and Scott's elegance in that final FD performance at the Olympics individual event. Especially Tessa was so regal in her carriage and movements. Overall, despite that both teams had different/varied programs during their competitive career, I think Davis/White will be remembered as being fast (both in skating and elements), exciting, dramatic and, most often, very technically precise, while Virtue/Moir will be remembered for their connection and chemistry by most of the average viewers and for their exquisite skating skills (naturally better than Meryl and Charlie's), amazing holds + close skating, posture and abilities as dancers (+ also some amazing lifts) by more knowledgeable people.

Bill Branson I didn't say that Meryl and Charlie didn't deserve to win. I just didn't (and don't) agree that their SD was more difficult and/or better as a program than Tessa and Scott's. And both are great teams - no need to belittle any one of them. I never agreed with those who said that Meryl and Charlie lack artistry and/or don't have chemistry. Their chemistry was simply different than Tessa and Scott's, and I think it took them more time to acquire it whereas Tessa and Scott had it quite early. But it's true that I have seen/heard more people mention great chemistry as one of Tessa and Scott's main qualities than I've read/heard the same about Meryl and Charlie. It seems that Tessa and Scott's kind of chemistry tends to be more obvious to more people than Meryl and Charlie's. That's why I also mentioned it as one of the things they will be remembered for. Meryl and Charlie had/have other great qualities (not to say that Tessa and Scott didn't/don't have other qualities besides their chemistry).

who thought up the word "twizels"? I think it is a very silly term to describe something so beautiful.
@mrpmrp226

Haven't you ever heard of swizzle sticks? They are the plastic or wooden sticks that bartenders use to skewer the fruit when they serve drinks. As people drink their drinks, the swizzle sticks are over stirred around and around. So the Twizzle gets its name from the Swizzle stick.

I agree that Charlie always has the same face but obviously over the last three years many panels of judges have seen something they prefer in Davis White. Just as singles skating changed after dropping compulsory figures ice dancing has changed.I prefer Davis White but I can see your point of view too.

I think V/M and D/W are both great teams. That being said V /M benefitted from home country scoring in Vancouver. They finished five points higher than D/W when their performances were only slightly better.

The ice dance is not a speed race. It is technical skills, musicality, elegance and ability to interpret any kind of rhythm, the ability to be one thing on the ice, not only physically but also emotionally. The sd of Virtue and Moir was just perfect, breathtaking, pure elegance, you could not do anything better and more consistent, it was like watching a movie with Fred Astaire and Ginger Roger. I saw the skate on the BBC and the commentators, when the score came out, were absolutely puzzled as everyone had seemed that the execution had been even better than that of the GPF but the score was lower. Davis and White are great, I do not deny, but Virtue and Moir are just another thing. Scott Moir in particular, as male skater, is simply extraordinary and, as everyone says, the only one who have reached, for technical and interpretive skills, Christopher Dean. He can act a Spanish torero, or an elegant gentleman, Fred Astaire or a modern dancer on Pink Floyd music, or a latin dancer or a romantic Franch young boy and each time he is perfect and one could think that he is exactly what he's acting and that he haven't done anything else during his whole life. Charlie White is a great, great skater but he's always the same: Charlie White.

Elena Pagliaretta Charlie (and Meryl) can skate any program you throw at him. Scott & Tessa, imo, only do lyrical programs well. I agree that Scott is an amazing skater. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Tessa.

I don't agree with you. Tessa is an amazing skater too, with unmatched elegance and style. I saw them live in Nice skating Funny Face. The only one couple who really could dare acting two icons like Fred Astaire and Audry Hepburn and match up with them. I'm not saying that on principle for nationality reasons, I'm Italian. But, in any case, like Old Romans said DE GUSTIBUS NON EST DISPUTANDUM
