Kevin Aymoz didn‘t pull out of the competition, he just didn‘t qualify for the free skate after the disaster that his performance was. He actually came second to last. And given his history of not pulling himself together after messing up a jump, the federation should‘ve sent someone else. He came in 7th at French Nationals, a month before Europeans. It‘s actually beyond me why they sent him to Europeans after his Free Skate at French Nationals, where he again gave up completely. They could‘ve sent someone else and give them a fair shot. They should‘ve seen this coming and taken action in time and taking care of his mental and physical health, he really looked distraught after his short program..

As much as I adore Kevin, I agree 😕 I heard that he begged his federation to be sent to the Europeans instead of François Pitot. His federation gave him a chance over another very talented skater but he threw away this chance by completely giving up during his performance, he basically took away the rightful place of François for just wasting it away... I am glad that he is taking a break for the rest of this season, I hope he gets all the support he needs. And I hope that François will have opportunities to compensate for this

François Pitot will likely get Junior Worlds, so it was not the end of the season for him. But yes, an experience at Europeans would have been nice for him, as he transitions into seniors. And France has only two spots for next Euros (sad face emoji).

As I understand it, not only does the backflip grant no points, but it actually also incurs a deduction. Insane confidence that he would win even with that.
@NomadicVegan
@NomadicVegan 4 ай бұрын
Yep, he got a two-point deduction for it, as he knew that he would. It was a pretty arrogant move, considering that there was still one competitor left to skate after him, but Adam is way better than anyone else in Europe and he knows it. If Malinin had done it I would have been annoyed, but Adam is so loveable that I didn't mind.

Adam's backflips during competitive programs are getting on my nerves. Completely different reasoning for the backflip at Euros vs. Worlds, and I was happy that he medaled at Worlds with that amazing free skate after a disastrous short program - but I was kind of hoping he'd miss out on a medal/placement by less than two points to teach him not to flaunt the rules.

Adam literally dunked on the competition in the free skate with that backflip. Super gutsy move from a fearless skater. Looking forward to seeing what else he's got in store.

As an Estonian I'm so happy you're talking about Aleksandr Selevko and I'm still amazed by his performances! He hasn't been consistant in his skating, probably that's why you don't know his name. Hopefully he will be more known now. He has younger brother Mihhail who is also a skater (and sometimes even better than Aleksandr, but this time he failed in his short programme. I hope they become consistant and one day figure skating world knows and fears the Selevko brothers. 😀

I love Loena but ISU’s favoritism towards her has become unpleasant. In her Europeans SP, both her jumps in her 3Lz+3T combo were underrotated and she had a very obvious edge problem on her Lz. But she only got q for her Lz and her other mistakes weren’t called. In the FP, her Lz edge was not called again and she had several rotation problems that were ignored by the juries. She got minimal deductions for her visible bad landings. Her face looked extremely nervous until she finished all her jumps and she couldn’t connect to the music at all until the last minute of her program. But she still got extremely generous GOEs and Pcs scores. Meanwhile, the other girls, especially Nina, were judged too harshly. They gave q to FOUR jumps of Nina to make her fall behind Loena, but Nina's TES score was still significantly higher than Loena, so they also butchered Nina's Pcs to make Loena win. They also gave low GOEs to Anastasia's jumps even though her jumps were better than Loena's. Everyone was rightfully calling out ISU when the juries were ignoring the technical errors of Shcherbakova and other Eteri girls and inflating their scores, but I find it strange that nobody is calling out ISU for doing the exact same thing for Loena. A few days before the Europeans, ISU posted the defending European Champions and they posted a picture of Loena instead of Anastasia. People naturally got angry and they deleted the post and shared it again with a picture of Anastasia, but they didn't apologize for their disrespect to Anastasia and Georgia. They did something similar when promoting for Grand Prix de France. They posted some slides stating that European Champions were going to complete at the competition, they posted the European Champions of all 3 disciplines but they didn't post Anastasia even though she was competing too. Another strange thing happened a few weeks ago. ISU announced the candidates for Figure Skating Awards. The Most Valuable Skater award aims to reward the most successful skater of the previous season. ISU nominated Shoma, Kaori, Chock/Bates, Miura/Kihara (all of whom are last year’s World Champions), Adam (last year’s European Champion), Ilia and Loena (last year’s Champions of nothing, lol). I really don’t understand why Ilia and Loena were nominated instead of Haein Lee and Guignard/Fabbri... Haein became Four Continents Champion and World Silver Medalist (she surpassed even Kaori and became first in World Team Trophy), Guignard/Fabbri became European Champions and World Silver Medalists. Last season, Ilia and Loena didn’t win anything, they didn’t even get Silver Medal at Worlds... (Now don’t tell me about Ilia’s Quad Axel because he already got the Special Achievement Award for Quad Axel in the previous year.) ISU is just extremely biased and needs to go through a serious revolution. As much as I love Loena and usually enjoy her performances, this type of favoritism and injustice leaves a very bad taste in my mouth
@bian8778
@bian8778 4 ай бұрын
I think it‘s funny how both Loena‘s and Kaori‘s edge calls (!) just suddenly disappeared after the olympic season. But I think it‘s just an attempt of the ISU trying to keep high scores in the ladies event without the russians. At Europeans2023 (the first Euopeans without the Russians), the 200 score wasn‘t broken by the winner in the ladies event. That‘s the first time since over 10 years that it wasn‘t surpassed (even before the +5 GOE change!). It was kind of embarrassing for the ISU not only having this setback in scores, but also Gubanova, a Russian born, winning. So now in 2024 we have the result of that. Not calling edges and underrotations in order to keep people on the podium and the scores high.. Just as extra information: I think everyone‘s wrong edge and q or < should be called. It‘s wrong that the favourites get away with that, it was already wrong when some russians got away with their flutzes but now we know that it‘s not just the russians who are favoured

💯And can we stop calling that misplaced, lackluster, bobbing squat a “duck walk”? That’s not what that is. I know this was on ice, not a runway, so it’s going to be different no matter what. But none of her arm work pays any homage to ballroom or vogueing, even I can see that.
@mishaomar030
@mishaomar030 4 ай бұрын
i would also like to include that i find loenas choreography way to arm based and boring. it doesnt feel her upper body is moving at all besides the arms. yes she might be energetic and fast but if your choreography is only moving your arms, for me thats not artistically pleasing.

I really loved the europeans this year, the light of my life, next to Sakamoto, Medvedeva, Kostornaja and Trussova, Livia Kaiser DELIVERED. The short was a clean skate and even tho there were a few lil things that she messed up in the free she hit a new personal over all record. The swiss commentator was crying after her short because of pure pride. I hope she keeps it up, even tho we most likely won't see the swiss ladies at 2026 olympics, simply because we do not have enough skaters who are at that level. It'd be so cool to see them in some kind of placement at international comps. Could you maybe at some point scratch on them a little bit, I think it'd do a lot for the swiss skaters, to be seen a bit more. Love your Videos, keep doing what your doing

But just one thing, Kevin didn’t withdraw, he didn’t qualify, It was sad to watch, I kind of wish he did withdraw, before that horrible short. And he is not the best guys in France anymore, did you forget that my beloved Adam, the European champion is French! Lol. Adam is the number one man in France now, I love Kevin too but he needs to recover, I can’t see another competition like that! The irony oh how good euros were in Lithuania is how underrepresented the sport is over there. And the lack of skate shops and rinks really don't help things either. As an adult skater it's been a nightmare ever since I've moved there from UK. Nearest city with a rink is 45min drive and neither of the 2 rinks offer patch ice so you're stuck training in public sessions. To get new skates it was equally as painful, because of the lack of stock and options. The shop I managed to finally get the skates I wanted (which had to be backordered) didn't even have an ability to heat mould my boots. The environment is really not great to nurture the sport over there.

As a Czech, we had an absolute rollercoaster of emotions this year, but at least we can finally see a small light at the end of the tunnel. The Mrazek siblings were great, especially when considering this was their first senior Worlds and how young and inexperienced they are compared to the rest of the field. They honestly seem to have too much energy for their own good at times. The Taschler siblings were in my opinion underscored in the free dance, should have ended up above the Finnish pair. Huge kudos for both of them because this was spectacular performance after not being able to practice for most of the season because of Filip's injury. Georgii Reshtenko delivered in a great fashion for his standards. This was the first time he didn't make me want to pull my hair out.

Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia are at the intersection of Europe and Asia, so it’s understandable that they compete in European division. But I don’t understand why Israel competes in European division, it’s completely located in Middle East and really far away from Europe 🤔
