She has a whole crew in the junior/novice division. Adeliia is already shaking with fury looking at Margarita with more stable quads/triple axels and watched the girl skate too. There's also the blonde one who finally stabilized the quad lutz and is in juniors too. There's 3 main girls in novices. Another generation of 3A in novices with quads and triple axels. One winning everything right now with 3 stable triple axels like Aliona but even more stable at like 11-12. Elizaveta A (She's the Aliona). Another with triple axels (the youngest I think...11. She's an Anna). Another with a quad salchow and lutz (a Trusova). She also has new novice boys and some junior pairs. The entire crew is not yet age eligible so she's just waiting it out. a few comments about alena kostornaia and her partner kunitsa: they did place 9th, but it was really close from 6th place to 9th place, only a few points of difference. they scored around 200, which in most international competitions this year would get you 🥇 they actually placed 5th in the free skate, because although their pairs elements like lifts and twists are low level they have some of the hardest jump combinations. there's no combination jump in the short program, so they dont score as high there. i think she actually has a lot of promise as a pairs skater. one of her competitors elizaveta osokina changed to pairs a few years ago, and now she is really good. alena is already improving so fast with the pair elements, and when they are better at those their artistry will improve 🔥 aliona also hinted at the beginning of the season that they might be able to change to another country like samodelkina. someone said her husband might have kazakhstan citizenship or family? 👀 but its just a rumor.

i agree that they have the potential as a pair but in national competitions the judges always give higher scores than internationally. that's why the scores gotten at nationals aren't counted in as PB and new world records etc.
@RandoMeow
@RandoMeow 4 ай бұрын
yes it's true national judging is inflated. however alena doesn't skate with eteri anymore and her coach doesn't have much power so she is not one of the judges' favourites. if you take away 5 points to account for national inflation, alena and her husband would still be the 4th highest scoring pair in the grand prix last year. even if you take 10 points away, they could have won multiple GPs. part of this is because international pairs are weak at the moment due to retirements and injuries, but it's an amazing achievement. obviously they're not perfect, but they have been skating together for a year whilst most of their competitors have been in pairs for their whole careers. the problem is that the pairs field in russia is so crazy, but i believe that alena and her husband will only get better from here.

@@kamelenka Can you name an era in figure skating that wasn't rocked by scandal or tragedy? What the Eteri girls accomplished during their brief reign will never be duplicated. Despite the scandal of Valieva, the quality of her skating style is unmatched. Kostornai landed one of the most impressive triple axels to date and executed two flawless programs during the 2019-20 seasons. She also became the first woman skater to post the highest scores under the new skating rules. Sasha wasn't a clean performer but she will go down as the first woman skater to land multiple quads throughout numerous competitions. As for Sherbakova, she was the most disciplined of Three A and won all of the important skating championships before retiring. Including back-to-back Russian Nationals, Worlds, and an Olympic Gold medal..

Eteri's success lies in her remarkable ability to scout and recognize potential. Her main champions are in juniors and novices. They have no idea what international comps are like so they are missing nothing and will stay motivated. They are her best bet. Anna her main olympic champion has no motivation to come back since there are no international competition. She said herself she would come back but she has zero motivation to compete domestically. Sasha left and we saw how terrible she did last season with her new coach. Kamila is losing hope and quads since her doping scandal and believes someone framed her. Adeliia the current Russian nationals champion is the only one left with motivation and landing quads (barely had an international season). Sofia the last Russian nationals champion is injured. Maya stayed horrible and it makes no sense why Aliona got kicked out for not restoring 3A, but Maya who is worse in everything gets to stay. Even titova got kicked out for poor results. Maya must be blackmailing someone with some juicy stuff, because it makes no sense why others get kicked out but she stays and remains forever terrible. Falling all over the place like Marin Honda. She's fine. If they remain in Russia with no international starts they'll be senior at the age she likes.

For Kamilla this is such a question to get to the winter Olympics. Not because of her age or consistency. The participating rules of Olympic Committee for Russian and Belorussian athletes are super strict. And the main feature there is that the athlete must never have supported Russian official politics, have supported Putin in any way or have taken money from any official governmental sources. So, considering this I really don't know who from all Russian skate union can match it. We'll see what happens in 2024 Summer Olympics. If the Winner-Usmanova girls will be allowed there or not.

Honestly given that all these athletes are government sponsored and therefore directly and intricately tied to the Kremlin, I think it's really sad the IOC agreed to let them participate at all. I feel awful for individual athletes having to pay for the sins of their government, but there's no way for them to compete without them tacitly supporting Putin's war crimes.

How do you think Russia will compete now that the new minimum age for olympic figure skating is 17? Has the international ban really affected the strength of their skaters? Will the olympics being their sole chance at international competition be too much pressure for skaters who will have not competed internationally for years?

They will do just fine...I assume we're talking about the ladies.... Anna and Sasha proved that you can maintain top form at 17 and up and still have quads...besides, it doesn't take much to beat an overscored Sakamoto who's on the decline and will be 25 by the Olympics, with the rest of the field not even close for some reason....the only reason Kaori is still skating is because Russia is banned for Political reasons....otherwise she would've retired after the Olympics....so I guess you can say she's cashing in on the war like those dirty world leaders Putin, Zelenskiy and Biden....

the good thing about Petrosian is that she is 16 now and she's still so tiny, so that is a big plus for her tiny size, chances are that she can still do quad jumps when she's 17 and she will be 18 when comes to 2026 winter Olympics. now that minimum age is raised to 17 for figure skaters to compete at the Olympics, it will be hard to find girls that can do quad jumps at 17. only scherbakova and trusova can land quad jumps at 17. Valieva is 17 now and she can no longer do quad jumps or triple axel.

Sadly, it's very unlikely. She needs her quads back to be considered, and she will be 22 by the time the next Olympics roll around. The oldest lady to successfully land a quad in competition thus far was about 20. Even when she was 17 and training for the Olympics, it was already a fight against her body to maintain the quads. I don't think, at this point, it's possible for the Russian training system to have skaters past 20 doing consistent quads. The barbaric training methods will just break Sasha and she will have to compete with less injured 15 year olds for the limited spots. I just can't see it happening.

As far as the next heir to Kamila, maybe there will be another upcoming "star", but certainly there will never be another heir to her legacy. Kamila is/was not merely a star, she is literally a once-in-a-lifetime figure skater. What makes her so unique is not her jumps, it's her balletic prowess and the fact that she could quite literally be a prima ballerina had she not chosen figure skating. There will never be another skater for quite a long time with ballet hands, arms to die for, incredible control of her core, beautiful leg positions and body lines. The Russians are known for being the best ballerinas in the world, and Kamila is an example of this. The best of the best figure skaters have extensive ballet training and Kamila excels above them all. Simply following her off ice dance routines and you can Marvel at the difference even among her incredible Russian teammates.. Zagitova did a beautiful Black swan performance at the Olympics earning gold for it, but on the off ice routine when you can really see the dancing side by side, Kamila blows her Zagitova away. Former Bolshoi Prima ballerina who went to the Dutch national ballet for political reasons, Olga smirnova, even helped train Kami off ice for her bolero routine. Watching the short clips, you can see that Kamila has even more beautiful lines than star prima ballerinas. Imagine taking the best of the best Prima ballerinas and teaching them to figure skate. That is Kamila Valieva and THAT is why she is so admired. Yes, she has slowed down slightly because growth spurts are very hard to deal with during sporting careers. Sadly, it appears that quadruple jumps are a must in order to become a world or Olympic champion. If that were not the case, older skaters like Kamila who will kill it in the artistry department like no other, but may not be able to perform the quadruples would win. If quadruples were eliminated or scored like triples as they should be because most girls (& some boys) don't even do a correct quad, then she could be a gold medalist at the next Olympics. This is the reality. The only hope for her is if the ISU revises the guidelines on quad jumps and adequately scores them accordingly because severe pre rotation should not count. Then Kamila could do her beautiful triples and be competitive among younger Russian athletes competing at the Olympics and other major competitions. Lastly, look at Diana Davis with Gleb Smolkin (Eteri's daughter) performing Swan Lake. You could see that Gleb absolutely outshines her because he has beautiful classical ballet body lines while Diana does not and it shows. Kamila has it all and her performances will may be matched one day, but never surpassed. .

@@mewer2those programs were a disaster. There is no way she could get to the Olympics with those, she wouldn't even pass through Russian national championship.

@watchmedo635

@@valentinacorrea5278most likely due to injury. none of the girls from the Tutberidze team have ever stayed competitive past the age of twenty. Unfortunately they burn out due to being taught the wrong technique which causes injuries :(

Weird title. "Russia" is not "back" whatsoever. Athletes who happen to have a Russian passport may participate so long as they abide by the rules of being independent athletes and showing no Russia whatsoever while doing their participation.

Tarasova is so rude. A huge number of russian figure skate fan are pissed off with her disgusting speech about Maya and other girls. I sincerely don't understand why they still let her speak about figure skate athlets if she's speaking this crap for years 😠

The act of using someone's work without compensation and referring to them as a rat (even in jest) for speaking out against this behaviour is simply mind-boggling to me.

Aliona stated that it was the federation who handled the money/transaction between skaters and designers. A bit of a sus situation lol… properly worth noting that this designer has trash talked a lot of the girls before, and made some derogatory comments about Trusova

@savanahbabyyyy 4 ай бұрын
@@watchmedo635 Another designer came out saying Aliona was mocking her saying something about her being homeless since she was working away from home to rush to make Aliona's and Georgie's costume. And that Aliona treated them all like slaves without paying them at all. She felt disrespected as Aliona didn't even say a simple "thank you" and left the project. This was another designer who exposed Aliona not the same one.

I think Sofya probably has the best chance out of all other non Eteri skaters to make it to the Olympics solely because she is plushenkos student. She is a legacy to one of their biggest stars, which could make her more desirable than the other non Eteri skaters. It will be interesting to see how the Russian season goes in the lead up to the next Olympics and what politics are involved with who actually attends.
