Figuring out Rear Shocks on the Model A Roadster Pickup

Finally !!! After checking heaps of forums and yootoob channels, it was you that explained beautifully, how to mount shocks... I couldn't find out how much pre-load to put on them... Now I know... Thanks matey and keep up the great (layman's version) tutorials... Excellent !!!

I've found MIG is not as affected by magnets. So I tack with MIG and weld in with TIG. Nice shock mounts!

I keep forgetting about those shocks also some of the super shorty shocks if you need try semi cab shocks are really short also.

Those do look very similar to the pete and jakes shocks. Nice work getting them installed! I'm lazy and just use the mig to tack in stuff that's awkward to clamp...makes a bit of a mess but saves some frustration.

Yea I think I read on that on the HAMB that they’re the same dimensions at Pete and Jakes.

Awesome. What is the collapsed, to extended measurement ? PLEASE !. Thank you I lowered the front of my Ol' Beater 54 Chevy, using the front suspension from a 78 C 10...made my own mounting brackets. Thanks

Hi there,why didn’t you weld two tabs onto the diff housing, it would have saved you from gusseting the single tab you now have,just subscribed,looking forward to more videos,take care.

Cool, thanks for subscribing! Much appreciated. If I mounted two tabs sideways on the axle tube the arc of the tube would have caused the shock body to hit the axle tube.

What ladder bar setup is that on the rear?

The ladder bars are from Parksville Swap Meet. I’m pretty sure they’re Pete & Jakes. The axle mounts I built myself out of 3/8 plate, and the frame mounts I built out of rectangular tubing

Yup they would. I run them on the front of my 47 Ford.

Sorry but from this octogenarians point of view the shock mounts are the easy, cheap way out. There should be more meat in the brackets and the lower shock body should be further out from the axel tube with two brackets partially encircling the tube and extending forward to mount the shock.
