Fiio FD5 Review and Impressions

Whyn not talking about possible tuning of fd5? That your oxygen is not able. Put spinfit cp145 on wide nozzle and there is no peaks you are tallking about or put narrow nozzle and vocal tips that fits from original set and there is even more smoothness in treble area or put spinfit cp800 on narrow nozzle and it is smooth and controled with really good mids so make fd5 as you want. More smoothness i dont know who could want. And add soundstage and imaging that fd5 are capable and this alone makes them amazing iem. It is not worse or better than your oxygen only different energetic presentation that you can tweak as you want. So was my point to share.

you don't even need to buy extra tips. Just the narrow nozzle already solves the treble issue, yet most people didn't even bother to try that before dismissing the FD5

People who like them really like them. I hear that the narrow tube makes a big improvement used with Spinfit cp800. I don't know if they have started including appropriate tips but that seems like a very amateur mistake to have a swappable nozzle gimmick but no tips.

Being a 'FiiO' fan, I've had these some time and I'm really happy with them. I see FiiO have now released the FD7 set, which to me look much the same as the FD5 (even down to the no tips to go with the narrow bass barrel, as before) for an extra £150. I've always been happy with FiiO products up to now, but this seems to be a blatant rip-off.... Perhaps you might like to take a look and tell me I'm wrong (please)...

the FD7 is supposed to be a pure Be DD while the FD5 is just Be coated, hence the price hike. But I understand the lack of tips for the narrow nozzle, which kills the treble by 3dB, actually making it palatable

FD7 now comes with 3 sound tubes , 2 as with FD5 but one with a narrow bass barrel but wider outer diameter to allow all tips, was hoping that extra tube is compatible an available for the FD5 .

Fd3 sounds better. Prefer the oxygen over both.

No way, fd3 is not better than fd5 for sure. A little different tuning and thats all. This you can like or not but technically fd5 still above. And above oxygen in some areas. But In some oxygen wins so you can prefer this. No iem has clear lead, and fd3 is technically lowest of these

@@AbalMarius I’m judging them on how they sound when listening to my music library and it’s 1st oxygen 2nd Fd3 3rd Fd5, I don’t give a fat rats arse about technicality’s. To me it’s how much pleasure or emotion I get from the music. I leave the technicalities to the people that need to justify paying too much for something that doesn’t sound particularly good.

@@MichaelBruceShortbus yeah but beryllium can be pushed to the moon if you know how to that they definitely didn't. The best part of beryllium is ofc its lightest so transient response is insane but you have to boost it by min 6db in bass even 10db boost won't make it loose control. The mangird up does same thing. I was wondering if you can get that one in for review & compare it with starlight & your other fav's. That "up" has done beryllium the right way.

The FD5 gets it's ass handed by the Oxygen. Their is little reason to consider the FD5 when the Oxygen beats it on pretty much everything. I think most people will prefer the Oxygen over the FD5.
