I am married to a Fijian , and we as a family meet Every Monday night for dinner. Last week the whole family sat and watched the first three of Mark’s videos on Fijian food. We all had a good laugh. And thoroughly enjoyed watching Mark and his family getting stuck into the food. And the biggest laugh for us in a positive manner, was just how much Mark loves his 🌶️!!!!

Possibly the friendliest people in the world! We took a child, who was hitchhiking back to his village, after a day in the field & the family welcomed us with kava. They invited us back, for a feast, in our honour, the next day. Then, they took us spear fishing & to a beach that they own. No white people had set foot on there, other than a movie cast, who filmed Blue Lagoon there. It was stunning! They taught Dad how to spear fish & climbed trees to collect coconuts for us. They treated us like Kings. They then had another feast in our honour. Honestly, it made the whole trip! Dad is a Doctor, so helped the local nurse to learn about HIV and she was so grateful. We ended up buying around $500 groceries for them to thank them. It was so lovely to see the kids trying biscuits for the first time. Such a special vacation. We kept in touch with them too.

I did every kava sesssion I could for 8 or 9 days when I was there.....then I went to one of these small villages you need permission...and they either gave me some extra-good kava...or it had built up in my system. I walked back to the boat seeing things greener than they had been several hours earlier....sounds a little more clear.....my with an extra smiley face! I'm staring at the full size kava bowl I brought back with me including cowry shells and coconut braid.

@39:05 That is why you don't want to contaminate your beaches and seawater with sewerage in Fiji.............the water is used for seasoning. Wonderful presentation why we have to keep our environment clean. Love the show Mark.
