i know this is long after your review but wanted to thank you for the reviews on all the parts of the filbe pack system. i now own and have used for several months the large ruck, the patrol pack, the hydration pack system and my newest aquisition the corpsman pack. they are super well made and work great. i even upgraded the large ruck with a 1606mc frame. thanks again.

This bag is really comfortable compared to other bags I think. I got mine used and one of the buckles broke on me. I feel like the ILBE buckles were more durable. I also opted out of the front pouch and attached an admin pouch that offered more custom pockets for me. Got my bag for just 55 USD.

I definitely like the ILBE as well. Both are awesome but two completely different systems.

Yes a video showing how the bladder can be used in every possible configuration on the filbe that would be cool. I adjusted the pack by watching the marine corps instruction video on KZbin. I'm glad I did. I understand the pack better.

Looking to buy the FILBE complete system. My research shows that two companies produce this product for the USMC. The earlier versions had stitching quality issues and the shoulder straps would fail. I'm curious to which one you got. What LOT # did it come from? Propper and Eagle Industries are the two companies. Most of them come from EI. The "defective" lots from EI are 1 through 211. I have not found issues reported for bags from Propper. So, be sure to check this before purchase. As you may need to buy an "upgrade kit" or personally reinforce the stitching.

@TheOutdoorGearReview, the pockets on the back behind the foam padding are for the shoulder straps in case you want to strap the assualt pack on top of the main FILBE-pack IIRC :)

I have a similar backpack from eBay. It's a Chinese version, a little bit smaller (30 l) but it's also a made of durable, heavy duty material. It was cheap and I really like the MOLLE system, which make this backpack very modular and I can attach or detach variety of modules/pouches, according to my needs. But after watching this video I thing I will get this one as well. I love it already. Thanks.

As far as I know there isn't a rainfly but you could always use one from another pack.

great review,one thing I thought worth mentioning is the small sleeves behind the padding you said you could stash rain gear in[great idea by the way] are so you can stow the shoulder straps in when attaching to the main pack. just gives it a cleaner look when using the complete system.

That is a sweet pack system. A bit pricey but if it is that tough a spacious well you get what you pay for. Do they offer a rain fly for it? Thank for a great video.

I don't know why but I think ILBE Arcteryx design looks more "civilian/elegant" than the FILBE. But the extra 20 liters of volume (for the complete system) and extra pouches for the FILBE is a big plus.

Hi buddy, been carrying this pack around for few months during work or outdoor activities. Works great and recently I had mix around with 5.11 Rush 24 too. Very close as in 5.11 offer more organisation for your stuff, however sometimes my smaller items (ie touch light) got drown in my 5.11. :) maybe if you have some time to spare, you will like to look into that as well. After buying the filbe main and assault I like assault much better. The way I see it unless you plan on carrying your entire house with you everywhere you go it is WAY too big. Bug out bags should only be big enough for 3 days anyway.

Can you mount the bladder it self inside the assault pack? Or does it need to be housed inside the smaller hydration pack to be connected to the assault pack?

It depends on the bladder. If it has a tongue you can place that over the sleeve. Works very well. If you need me to, I can make a vide for you. - Luke

Duel-Tactics -N-Gear This is a great pack and with that much weight it handles it well. Do a search for the stealth camp overnight adventure that I did in which I used this pack. One thing about the belt, it's very basic. Non-padded so it's only for load control. Cheers. - Luke

What is the use of making a pack water resistant if you put holes in it? I have traveled around the world in all kinds of environments (jungle, desert, snow,etc.), but I have never, ever needed drain-holes. Holes in a pack let in water, sand, ants, dirt, mud, snow, etc. This pack you cannot even put it down on the ground, because you will get sand in it! Holes are a deal-breaker!

You can sew some waterproof panels over the holes. I prefer them on my packs because I live in a wet place with lots of lakes.

when I paid I paid by check. On ebay the seller had a top rating. When. I got ripped off they only gave me 200 of 900 in a paypal acc. I was done with their stuff just wanted my 200 they sent me a check less 30% to add insult to injury. The real seller died 2yrs earlier. Someone stole his acc. I was told and no one knew and that was my wife's xmass presant
