after i installed the server it popped up the same box as you except instead of 127.0.0.1 it has [::1] i am want to connect it to my router so i can access if from all computers connected to my router do i need to do something different?

i log in from an ftp client on my cellphone buy it doesnt show me any directories on my filezilla server. from a dos command prompt i can log in and list directories just fine... but not from a ftp client on my cellphone. this is frustrating

I tried to setup the filezilla your way but some how it says: *Warning: TP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in. You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router* Can you help me with that please?

Same thing happened to me but I found out how to fix it. Open the settings and click FTP over TLS Settings and check Enable TLS over TLS support (FTPS). Then, go to Passive mode settings and check Use the following IP and type in your IP and and save it.

Hi there, I`m installing this on windows server 2003 R2. Installed fine and went through default options as per your video. however i get stuck when clicking the edit butting the settings option is all greyed out so can`t do anything more. Can you help please. thanks

Great Tutorial! I spend lots of time looking thru U-tube for info on learning about web design, and to help answer problems. Lots of garbage out there but your tutorial was very well spoken, organized, easy to follow and informative. Are you trying to connect over the internet? If you can turn off Passive Mode in your FTP client. That solved it for me.

I had exactly the same problem. This tutorial omits the vital information you need for this in FileZilla Server: it's in Edit > Settings > Passive Mode Settings: I checked the "Use custom port range" box, and used the range 50000 - 51000. I checked the "Use the following IP" button, and entered the IP address of the PC that FileZilla Server is running on. This is NOT 127.0.0.1- that's for the Server Admin Interface. On a Windows 10 machine, you can find your IP address via Settings > Network & Internet. Tutorial: www.groovypost.com/howto/find-windows-10-device-ip-address/ When you've found the correct IP address, you will also need it for FileZilla Client on your other machine. FileZilla server is very tricky to set up, but it does work. It's very useful for transferring files between two PCs with different versions of Windows. Networking two such machines would be a nightmare. Hope this helps.

This is great for step by step, but the problem is everything you're telling us to do has no explanation of WHY. I'm doing all of this but have NO CLUE what any of it means. It's almost like I'm following a person through a ridiculous maze but have NO IDEA where I'm going, how we're getting through the maze, or anything. Then, once I get to the command prompt and to the password part, it won't let me type anything else in. I tried twice, so now I'm stuck having done all of this and have absolutely NO CLUE what any of it means AND can't go any farther. UGH! This is SO frustrating.

In the command prompt I type ftp (space) local host, then hit enter. The next thing the comes up is ftp> I type dir and it says not connected. What am I doing wrong?

Great detailed tutorial on the basic setup. I just wish you had continued the tutorial to show how to setup Filezilla on a network to actually work as a server so that someone outside your network could connect to the folders you designate. I mean, that's the whole point of Filezilla server. Just showing how to simply "install" the software, as you showed, barely touches the surface of what you need to know to get Filezilla to work as an FTP.

I would love to see a tutorial on how to set up a local wamp server that I can access from other computers on my home network. For instance I want to have a stand alone file server and web service with in my home network that my laptop and desktop can both access and exchange documents with remotely, along with a common database that I can use to manage my home office... Most of the tutorials show how to access the wamp or IIS server from out side of the local network but no one shows anything about how to access the server from other computers on the same LAN network???

This functions beautifully for my FTP server, and i thank you for making this tutorial, but i have a question, is there a possibility i can remove the authentication required everytime i attempt to login to the ftp server? such as if i entered it in my web browser or through the console, i dont need to enter a user name or password, and im brought directly to the server? thanks

I am about to loose my mind trying to deal with setting up Filezilla server on windows 7. I keep getting this warning "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router. Warning: FTP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in.". II have made certain that the firewall and UAC are both disabled, and i am not running any other type of antivirus on this machine. I have watched the few video tutorials on you-tube that i could find but not a single one of them resolves the problem any help you might offer would be greatly appreciated.

As it turns out you have to be sure to set up the isers and groups and then in general setting you have to make one change. It nearly drove me crazy but there is a solution. I will find it for you

Port forward port 21 on your router and then use whatismyip.com and give your users the IP.

FTPS (also known as FTPES, FTP-SSL, S-FTP and FTP Secure) is an extension to the commonly used File Transfer Protocol (FTP) that adds support for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) and the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) cryptographic protocols. Im guessing your not using SSL so forget about it, just ignore it, or you could set up SSL to get rid of the notification.

This worked for me! (answer from someone else) 1. Goto setting 2. click on tab passive mode setting 3. Checklist use custom port range, input 50000 - 51000 4. Click use the following IP and input your server IP 5. Checklist Don't use external IP for local connections FIX: Warning: FTP over TLS is not enabled, users cannot securely log in. 1. Checklist enable FTP over TLS support 2. Checklist disallow plain unencrypted 3. If you don't have certificate, just click generate and create your own certificate
