If we move to the UK, as retirees with no foreign income, how do we file taxes, to which country?

So my wife is from the US, I am German. She is currently not working and we are about to open a microgreen business. Does she have to pay taxes just because she is married to me and I am founder of a business, or does she only have to pay taxes if she'd worked there and gets paid.

Hi there, most likely your wife doesn’t owe US taxes due to the US-Germany agreement that prevents double taxation. However, it does get more complicated if she works for your company, If the legal structure of the business would be Partnership/Corporation, and she has shares from the company then it might add complexity to her US tax return as she would need to file corporate forms, the FBAR, etc. Your income though would not be included on your wife's tax return.
