We own a concrete construction company here in the US with 40+ years of experience. You should pour concrete all the way to the top of the foundation (ground level) all in 1 pour (monolithic) same day within minutes/hour or so, so you don't develop a cold joint. Cold joint is when you pour concrete and let it cure/dry, then pour another section few hours later, or days later. This separation creates a weak section, the new concrete will NOT bond with the old cured concrete. The way they did it will still work, it just not as strong as monolithic. Everything else looks good.

It's a good practice though. Even I, I still do the "mano" to my parents, relatives and elderlies. This should be handed down from generation to generations.
@rollybatenga73323 жыл бұрын
It’s so endearing to see Jundee go to Mama Rose to MANO, (second time that I have seen him do this and it warms my heart and a testament to Mama Rose’s good heart) which is an old age expression of respect to the elderlies. You’re a very cool guy Jundee and very respectful.
@celinetapel71793 жыл бұрын
Jandee really knows the traditon of the elderly in the Philippines especially in the province. I grew up in the Bicol Region and we do bless or make mano to our parents, tita and titos and all your relatives. That's a sign of respect to them.

I remember when I was a child how the immigrant Italian workers on road crews would toss coins into the new road paving as they poured new concrete or asphalt for good luck. Another Italian custom is when someone gets a new car you should toss coins into the car (usually we toss them onto the floor of the back of the car) for good luck. My family still does that.

I remember when we first moved to the home i grew up on. We have to bring in first (above anything else) - rice, oil, and salt. And then when our house is being renovated, we made sure that the stairs upfront the house ends with "oro" - oro, plata, mata. Or else bad luck will come to our house. For good luck, we also have some coins cemented on top of the stairs so money comes flowing in the house👌That time, we don't have a car but my dad decided to have a garage anyway. Because it is bad luck that the terrace stairs is directly in front of our house entrace. So to break it, a garage was constructed. Decades later, we had our first car😊

My grandma always kept the blessed palm leaves from Palm Sunday and tied them around the posts of our house everytime there was a typhoon or earthquake. It was supposed to spare the house and occupants from these calamities. I guess it worked as we never had any damages from all the typhoons and earthquakes that came. It's also most likely from the belief that anything of God's can work miracles anytime. So, you might want to put blessed palm leaves in there too. You'll need it since you 're building close to the beach. We did it when we built our own home. Much luck to you and your new home/garage..

My wife (a Filipina)was talking about the foundation yesterday, asking if anyone had done the money throw yet with the building or with your home. She told me about it being good luck and they wouldhavethe churchcomeby and bless it too. She also said that they do this also do this with new wallets, coin purses, and purses to give the new owner good luck and good fortune with their finances. Hopefully we will be back in the Philippines next year, we are both home sick and are missing our family there.

I have never heard of people doing this - that is a great thing. When our building for the company went up all of the workers who were going to be working in the building signed their name on a main beam as sort of a time capsule before the building was finished being completed - I thought that was pretty cool too.

Wow those square holds are huge and the foundations is for a tall building. I am not an expert in building structures but It seems a little bit over the top in my opinion. The spacings between pillars are shorter too so I think it will be above standard as per building code. Maybe you want your structure built strong to withstand natural calamities. Looking forward to see how will it turns out. Thanks for the video.
