Very interesting, Rica! In my wife’s town, Magalang, Philippines 24 August, the feast of Saint Bartholomew, is a time of celebration. He’s the Patron Saint of the town and it’s Town Fiesta Time! I was married in Saint Bartholomew, the principle church in the town.

you explained that this is what you are taught, but you didn't explain WHY the month of August is so hard. Please explain why it is.

Is August just before the Early Harvests?

Rica, I think that most people including myself do not understand why August is a bad month for people in the Philippines. You have to explain that. Is it because of the monsoon rains that hit a significant part of Luzon during the time of the year? Or is it that the harvest doesn't occur until later in the year? As a contrast, MOST of the US has a lot of food during August as that is when most of the crops mature EXCEPT in my area which is desert land and the ONLY thing that grows in the summer heat is okra.
