thanks for all your vids! great work! my filipino parents became US citizens in 1983. I was born in the US in 1979. So i believe i'm an automatic dual citizen. My birth certificate from the USA says my parents are from the Philippines. Also, I have my parents US naturalization citizenship paperwork that says that they became US citizens and that they were filipino on the naturalization paperwork. Is that enough to prove I'm a filipino citizen if I attempt to get my birth registered in the Philippines and seek filipino citizenship? My father says that his and my mom's birth certificate are needed by the filipino government to verify that they were filipiino citizens at the time i was born but unfortunately they were told that their birth certificates could not be located in the Philippines (apparently they were burned in a fire or something else caused them to be missing in the Philippines where the government kept their birth certificates). They also do not have their old filipino passports anymore. Am I out of luck when i comes to trying to claim my filipino citizenship?

Per IATF guidelines, if you are a former Filipino citizen and you are able to present proof of your former Philippine citizenship, such as Philippine birth certificate, you can travel to the Philippines without need of a return ticket. I would suggest that you communicate or clarify this with your airlines before your flight and get a confirmation that they are aware of this policy.

Good day Sir, I have just reaquired my Filipino Citizenship and is now a Dual Citizen of the United States of America and the Philippines. At present, I do not have a valid Philippine passport and I intend to go home to the Philippines very soon. Since I am staying far from the nearest Philippine Consulate here in the US, I hope to apply for a Philippine passport when I arrive in the Philippines. I understand that I have to present my US passport and the 3 pages of my Philippine Dual Citizenship reaquisition papers to the Immigration upon entering the Philippines. My question is - Do I need to have a return ticket back to the US and will I be allowed to stay in the Philippines indefinitely once I get a Philippine passport? Since dual citizens are entitled to be admitted as citizens of the Philippines despite that they don’t have Philippine passports, but provided that they are able to present their proof of dual citizenship, they should also have the right to stay in the Philippines indefinitely. However, it will be to your greater advantage and convenience to have your PH passport. As to the return ticket, you shouldn’t be required to have return ticket given the fact that you are a Philippine citizen. Also, IATF guidelines provide the Filipino Balikbayans are not required to present return tickets. Unfortunately, some airline company staff might not be aware and still require passengers to present return tickets. You should be prepared to argue with them. I discussed that in the earlier video.
