This is Filipino hospitality-- Kim and her warm, wonderful and friendly family. My dad got a scholarship in UK and stayed with a British family at Middlesex near Thames river. He experienced the same thing. Good people, good reception and good food. I admire both countries.🙂

On your Lechon question: Lechon comes from the Spanish word "Lechon", which means suckling pig. In the Philippines the meaning of that word changed to "rotisserie grilled" because that's what they did a lot with such pigs. Lechon manok, is basically chicken, prepared like lechon on a rotisserie. Hence "Lechon manok" (rotisserie-pig chicken). 👍🔥🍗😋

I am Dutch and our language also uses words that were derived from French, English and German words, etc. Even ancient Latin and Greek, But I didn't know about Inasal meaning the same thing. Even though my wife is Bisaya from Davao, Mindanao. Nice to know. 👍🙂

@@jeroen7699 you’re European and it’s common to use borrowed words. We’re in Asia and specially the PH has lots of different 170 dialects and 6 considered languages and some dialects are dying. I only felt keep our dialect and languages alive. It’s cultural. I’m only concern as it kills the language and disappears. Good to know your wife is from Davao and for sure she speaks Bisayan cebuano. I speak Bisayan cebuano too, although I leave in France. I admired the deeper south of Mindanao who are still using the deep Bisayan languages, closer to Indonesia and Brunei. Languages are also a national identity as we discussed with some friends from Ethno/ Anthro. By the way most European languages were rooted from Latin except the the Germans or most Nordic countries.
