Who knew The Philippines had the most insanely huge malls ever! Well, we did, since we visited one a few weeks ago! But this time we went to an even bigger one, wohoo!
We're spending the day exploring one of their largest, the SM Seaside here in Cebu.

While many malls are just malls, there are four big malls in Cebu that are destinations in themselves: Ayala Center Cebu, SM Seaside City, SM City Cebu and Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

The Wander Life you can check out borobudur temple if you are travelling through java :), otherwise you should hit bali / gili islands...but jakarta is really more your shopping, malls and food type of city.

Which mall in the Philippines is your favorite? In Cebu, it's the Ayala Center, SM Malls are huge, but not the best. In Manila, of course, Greenbelt Mall in Ayala Center, and for a different shopping lifestyle, check out the BGC High Street in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

The malls in Philippine cities are huge and unbelievable, but once you get to the province they get pretty small lol. The province where I'm from there are a few malls but they are like... a fraction of the size of what I see in America or big cities in the Philippines

Most of the filipinos hang out in the malls because of it is comfortable and safe ..no pollution and most of them can not afford nice airconditioned homes

On the leasable area, PH has 4 on the top 10 largest in the world. 3 are in the top 5 with SM North Edsa (THE BIGGEST) in the top 3. On the total area, Mall of Asia didn't make it through the top 10. And North Edsa dropped to 4th place.

There are only two megastructures in the world with circular layout: SM Seaside City and Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. But SM Seaside (with GFA of 470,000 sqm) is bigger by almost half than Apple Park (with GFA of 260,000 sqm). The main mall area is a complete circular design while the outer shell is half circle and is designated as parking space for up to 4,336 cars.

SM owned Banks located in the city had tax issues resulted in court battle at the moment. The newly elected Mayor stop issuing new business permits for new tenants and building permits surrounding the area or related to SM. The whole project is not done yet, the one in the center should have a 360 viewing deck and a restaurant. This particular SM mall, called SM Seaside City, was opened in 2015. However, there are two other SM malls in Cebu, SM City Cebu and SM Consolacion. SM City Cebu was opened in 1993 and the first SM mall outside Metro Manila. The older SM City Cebu mall is more than half the size of Seaside City.
